I also set mine up last week and managed to get the Echelon proprietary apps off the tablet using some of the information posted here [xda-developers.com]. Note that this is not a simple, quick or necessarily straightforward process, but the end result should be a tablet that still connects to the bike and can be configured with 3rd party apps.

I had no intention of using the Echelon app simply because 99% of it's functionality is tailored toward having a subscription. As soon as I saw the freestyle window as a full screen ad with a tiny stats bar at the bottom, I knew that app was coming off. There's supposed to be a way to re-load the Echelon app if you want to keep using it but I haven't figured that out yet.

I paid for the qdomyos-zwift app off the Amazon appstore and installed that on the tablet instead. It has a relatively basic interface but displays all the important info I need (cadence, speed, resistance level, etc.). It's also able to interact with the Peleton app if desired, which I hear good things about. For now, I have Plex & YouTube Vanced loaded on the tablet and run that with the qdomyos-zwift app in the background or in split screen.

EDIT: I was finally able to re-load the Echelon app after following step 5 on post 532 [xda-developers.com]. Installing the app this way allows you to do everything the stock Echelon app would (including update the bike itself) but will not firmware update the tablet and lock it back down in the process.
if you are interested in buying this or you've already bought it, check this thread out
https://forum.xda-developers.com/...m.4023915/

it shows you how to hack the echelon tablet to install the apps you like, and also to split the screen to display qdomyos-zwift and peleton app together, so you can enjoy the peleton app with a more reasonable monthly fee
YES! Right on time! I was running out of places to hang all my black Friday clothes.

I got mine and put it together a couple days ago. A very quality built machine and money well spent. I'm not gonna get the subscription, the bike works just fine without it
Is there an app that can measure the calories etc ?

I just bought this but has anyone had experience with: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pooboo-Indoor-Cycling-Bike-Exercise-Bikes-Stationary-Magnetic-Resistance-... [walmart.com]

It seems like more 5 star reviews (could be fake) and is $215. It seems to be lighter which could be a good or bad thing.

Also, can echelon sync to google fit?

If I didn't buy a Sunny Health bike earlier this year for $150 on Ebay that was normally $450 I'd go for this. Anyone think it's worth the upgrade? Hard to spend again since I'm sure I can't get more than $50 at most selling mine locally. I love the automatic programs, but this one being able to run other apps is tempting.
I had never owned a bike like these before with magnetic resistance, and it's almost life-changing how good a workout without even trying at times, or great workouts when you have good energy. At 56 now I just can't do strength training as long as I used to. Just snuck up on me! ha!

Got mine last Thursday and I am really enjoying it. Well built, super quiet, and with the help of some wonderful users on this site I got YouTube running on the tablet so I can just use instructor videos off that instead of paying a monthly fee. Seems like a good deal if you're just starting out.
How do I use YouTube or the tablet without membership?

How do I use YouTube or the tablet without membership? It keeps asking me to be a member after registering an account.

Received mine today after a shipping delay. Now I know why… the box is destroyed and the shipping label is placed upside-down from the clear instruction to have the box one way up. Not even going to bother as if I do need to return this, I'll never get it back in the box.
Does it at least come with the brown box like for example the original box inside a brown one?

Sorry to thread crap a little - I see how folks think it is a good deal, but there were better ones recently. Last June I got Echelon Smart Connect EX1 Bike with 1 year membership for $285 before tax at QVC. I believe EX series is a newer version of their bikes and I love my EX1 and the membership too.
I always wanted to try Peloton or a similar bike and joined Echelon Facebook group after seeing Echelon bike deals here and posts about how Echelon bikes could be used with a Peloton app on a cheap. I usually never check my notifications from Facebook groups but randomly saw one guy alerting the group to the QVC deal. It was tough sell for me because I own a very good indoor cycling exercise bike/trainer CycleOps Pro 200 that I used for a year with a Peloton app (free through a friend.)
Now I am very happy that I got the Echelon because for me the motivation from these classes beats exercising on the CycleOps when there is no direct feedback between the bike ad the Peloton class. I lost 15 lbs in 6 months in steady pace and it didn't happen with other equipment. With annual membership cost $399 Echelon/QVC "paid me" $115 to take EX1 of their hands (old razor and razor blades model) but I now think that their expensive membership probably worth it and I am willing to pay for it when my 1 year period runs out.
I will be looking for other deals on their equipment with annual membership included, like the rower with 2 year membership for $800 - you are getting a free rower essentially, and the same membership works on all their equipment.
The fact that the EX1 didn't come with a screen was not a big deal to me - I already have many iPads around the house and Fire/Android tablets. Also no need to jump through hoops making the included Sport S tablet to play Youtube etc. like folks are discussing here. BTW, Echelon app works on iOS 12 and Peloton app needs a higher version. The functionality of Peloton is worse on Android app and for Echelon it's the same. Fire 10 from 2019 which can be had for $60 occasionally, works with Echelon app.
Does this bike have Bluetooth functionality?

Anyone give input. Is this bike worth it going into it just wanting to do cardio and no intention to buy subscription? Anything I should be aware of

Hate to say it, but your best bet might just be an Apple Watch or similar device?

How does this compare to the non-s Sport? Besides the built-in Screen (which i don't need), but is there any differences with resistance or anything else?

I have the basic Sport version of this bike (no tablet). It sets up easily and works fine with any iOS device through bluetooth. Not sure about android. It's basic and you have to adjust everything manually, but it spins smoothly and is very quiet. The saddle sucked and bought a cheap alternative on Amazon for $15.
Bonus: My cats like to sit on the bars when not in use.
