I also set mine up last week and managed to get the Echelon proprietary apps off the tablet using some of the information posted here [xda-developers.com]. Note that this is not a simple, quick or necessarily straightforward process, but the end result should be a tablet that still connects to the bike and can be configured with 3rd party apps.

I had no intention of using the Echelon app simply because 99% of it's functionality is tailored toward having a subscription. As soon as I saw the freestyle window as a full screen ad with a tiny stats bar at the bottom, I knew that app was coming off. There's supposed to be a way to re-load the Echelon app if you want to keep using it but I haven't figured that out yet.

I paid for the qdomyos-zwift app off the Amazon appstore and installed that on the tablet instead. It has a relatively basic interface but displays all the important info I need (cadence, speed, resistance level, etc.). It's also able to interact with the Peleton app if desired, which I hear good things about. For now, I have Plex & YouTube Vanced loaded on the tablet and run that with the qdomyos-zwift app in the background or in split screen.

EDIT: I was finally able to re-load the Echelon app after following step 5 on post 532 [xda-developers.com]. Installing the app this way allows you to do everything the stock Echelon app would (including update the bike itself) but will not firmware update the tablet and lock it back down in the process.

Try grabbing WiFi ADB from apkpure instead of aptoid I can tell you that the 3.0.6 version (from apkpure) worked for me.

When you say it doesn't work what happens? In WiFi ADB you need to move the "slider" that is in the center of the screen to "on" in order to get it to start connecting.

I just couldn't get it to connect but I'll try the version you noted and see if that helps

My first delivery was a damaged box with flaps loosely taped . Seems like a return . The offer is still running so will make a 2nd attempt and then go to Costco for the 4S

So I got impatient and tried to start over by factory resetting it. It now looks like Iost root access (confirmed with Wifi ADB). Does anyone know how to regain root?

I clicked the slider and got the number and port. When on the terminal, it is unable to connect using the command to connect. Same wifi network.

Oh no! Are you sure you factory reset? There was a way to get back the Echelon App if you followed that XDA Thread. As far as getting back root, did you allow the tablet to take an update prior to doing this?

Reading on that thread someone else felt like they had the same problem (Post 524 on XDA), but it ended up that they needed to use a different Wifi ADB Version (you sure you're on 3.0.6 from apkpure?)

Thanks. Did not take an update. I ultimately was able to find another Wi-Fi ADB tool, not different version, that was able to do it without root.

Ordered, they provided the wrong tracking number. Showed it delivered, picture a box about the size of a shoe box. Luckily after chatting with Walmart they said they would contact them, if I do not hear back in 48 hours chat with Walmart again. Did and a bot just auto issued me a refund, so nice on Walmart for the quick and somewhat painless refund. Sucks I don't get the deal though.

I bought this when the deal was active, mine came kind of new( didn't realize it was all put back together until I got the new one) but the fly wheel was damaged and making sounds. Called the company and they shipped a new one. Just wanted to give kudos to the company and their support. Was able to actually talk to someone.

I doubt you completely lost root access as that would require you to modify the system partition and manually remove the necessary binaries. A true factory reset would restore the rom and restore it's original rooted state.

Has anyone tried returning the bike at Walmart? Can I return assembled bike or do I need to dis-assemble and pack?

I got the bike last weekend, fixed it up and like it. But the distance between handle bar & seat is too long for my younger son.
Want to return to Walmart and may be the ES-X model from Costco as Handle can be adjusted back and forth.
