Love my A6A. Yamaha even doubled the warranty duration a year ago. The only thing I don't like are the "nannies". Theres a significant watts drop per channel when you go from 4 to 5 and higher channels. To be honest with my klipsch 5.1.2 in wall RP pros it doesn't matter since they don't require many watts to get to reference levels. To others it may be an issue. Great AVR. Nice and heavy. Built well. Love the music cast app too. Runs hot but never had a problem yet. 3 hours of lord of rings and runs fine.

Be sure to take a look at the link below prior to pulling the trigger. Good luck.

I know it has preamp outs because I was looking at it a while back. I ended up getting a Denon AVR-X3600H, and I added an Outlaw 5 channel amp for Front Left, Center, Right and 2 rears. I used the Denon amp section for the rest of the surround channel for a 7.4.2 setup. It really works great.

Thanks!

I have Klipsch RP RF-82 ii series with the matching center, surrounds and atmos. I don't feel like I'm missing any features as I rarely use anything. It's mainly for home theatre movies and regular TV.

It sounds amazing but I figured it could be "blow my pants away" better if I upgraded to a more powerful receiver. Also I'm a bit worried since I'm running 9 speakers on a 7 channel amp lol
Welcome.

9 speakers on a 7, well that might be an issue 😅

Those are nice bright and efficient speakers, I don't have experience with the ii series, but the i series, which look the same, are great, esp for home theater imo.

If you are looking for a cheaper upgrade and don't already have really nice, heavy guage, wire to the speakers, I'd suggest looking in to that. Monoprice used to have decent priced good cable, but not sure if they are still the place to go these days.

What is the preamp mode?
That's a feature that "disconnects" the internal power amp when one is using preamp which usually will improve the preout (depending on exact implementation). Normally most AVR will still drive the internal power amp circuits even when one is only using the preout with no speaker connected. If one turns up the volume that causes internal power amp to clip (or go into protection), then the preout signal will be affected too even if the external power amp has ample headroom.

The newer production runs apparently are not plagued with the hdmi 2.1 problem with Xbox running 120hz. I was skeptic too at first, simply due to the $1100 price tag. The unit I'm considering has a newer serial # though.

That's all good if you've confirmed the factory build/serial #. I remember they downgraded the DAC IC to TI then and only have 1 8K input as I recall (not future proof), while A6A is all 8K with ESS DAC if those are important to you. $1100 is an amazing price for the SR7015. Some people prefer their HDAM sound signature which A6A can't offer.

Is it going to be the full suite ?....what is the upcharge for that model?

IMO the full suite of DIRAC should be standard in the Marantz pre-pro at a $7000 MSRP as well as the top Denon AVR at a $6499.00 MSRP
It will have the full suite plus bass management for multiple subs. We don't know if it's going to be flat fee or a monthly / yearly subscription. Rumors point to a subscription model

Why would you run a sound bar off a receiver? Sound bars are for those not wanting to invest in a surround sound receiver, or have the space or ability to wire speakers.
It was designed that way. The soundbar and receiver were a combo sold by yamaha.

If you prefer Yamaha this is a pretty good deal.
Yamaha makes the best AVRs. I don't know why anyone would prefer another brand?

Ugh. I have a RX-A2080 I got for $800 new. I want to upgrade but i don't think it makes sense.
I think that AVRs are still suffering from the chip shortage. I'd want to see this for sub-$1000 before I bought it. Hopefully we see the prices come down in the next year.

Several people talking about the bass management of Dirac in the Onkyo. That's only an issue if the person is using more than one sub and even then how much of an issue is it actually? And if you're comparing the Onkyo to this Yamaha, well the Yamaha doesn't have management for multiple subs either and Dirac is much better than Yamaha's room correction.

is it too much to ask for a 9.2 AV with less than 100W for under $800??

If bass correction is the concern, you can always get a minidsp 2x4 HD and insert it between the receiver and the powered subs (up to 4). Calibrated with a umik and REW, it will give you better result than any AVR's built-in correction.

Is the room correction in this one really much worse than the Dirac portion in the Rz50? My room is mostly a square but I have cathedral ceiling which makes things a bit difficult.
Dirac is better but it's main advantage are the adjustments you can make.
The starting point will vary widely but in my experience it's not as big as people think, quite often.
IMO more importantly which will sound better with your speakers rather than the RC.

Gutting our basement and having a dedicated theater room. Plan on 5.2.2 setup with either a 77" LG C2 or B2 depending on what the prices do.

Will be running PS5 as well as newest gen Apple TV for most all applications. Fronts are the older Polk Rti A9s I had from a previous dedicated HT at our old house.

This receiver overkill in your alls opinion? I've looked at the Denon 3800 as well as the Onkyo rz50. In the past always used pioneer elite series- first the sc-37 and then the sc-57.

Any opinions would be great- just getting ready to get started on the gut job and will probably be 2-4 months by the time it's all finished and ready to go.
Unless you are planning on adding channels, you only need a 7 channel. No sense in paying more for a 9 unless you plan on expaning.

I can't see this being sub $1k any time in the near future. At best, I think it would be several years old at that point and outdated. This is by far the cheapest it has been. I honestly don't think it will even go sub &1500 for at least another year+.
