I nailed a piece of 2 by 4 to the wall and then nailed long nails in that, drilled holes in the handles of my rakes and shovels that didn't already have them, it works great.
Had two. Two pieces of crap
I had a similar unit in my garage. Fell apart in 2 years.

I use a large trash can placed in a corner to put all my implements in. Been working great for 20 years.

Why do people use these wall storage systems?? I just put all mine in a tall cabinet in the back of the garage and it looks so clean. It would only make sense if you use every yard tool every day
Because a lot of people have more wall space in their garage than floor space.

Never thought about it, good idea. How did you secured base to prevent tripping?

I have it wedged between the wall and a work bench. Could also use strapping to affix it to the wall, though I haven't needed to.

Every time without fail when a wall mounting system is posted, someone needs to chime in they stuck a 2x4 on the wall.
Personally I think that looks like a$$.

If tools were placed other way around, they would stay in place. With placement shown in picture, would they not fall down? Do they stay in place due to friction between tool and hooks?

Bingo! They stay still with friction. The green part on the hook is ribbed that provides friction....dingdong123

These are garbage. Cheap plastic and the hooks can't hold the weight they say they're rated for.

I'm literally using a curbside trash can. Keeps the yard tools neatly bundled. No installation necessary.

Or just nail two nails close enough together in order to support the head of the tool/s you're hanging. I have both in my garage.
