While I agree on the quality of this rice, if you don't follow the correct method even the high end won't give you the long fluffy cooked rice. Whatever cooking method you follow, please soak the rice an hour at least in cold water to get best outcome.

Just purchased Costco's 20lb. organic Basmati, it was $27.59 in San Jose, CA.
You're comparing different products. This is conventional, not the organic version.

Nishiki is grown in California better quality where as Royal is imported from India, so quality varies.
For Basmati rice, you want it to be imported from India. Just like authentic Jasmine rice should be imported from Thailand. As for regular short grain and long grain rice grown in the USA, yes, California grown rice generally has lower arsenic levels.

Nishiki rice is what we use and we're Asian. You can find 15lb for $13 or so on slickdeals regularly.

You're comparing apples and oranges. Medium grain rice such as the Nishiki you mentioned, Basmati rice, Jasmine rice, and Japanese short grain rice (粳米) all have different use cases and are suitable for different types of cuisines.

Being an Asian you should know the difference between basmati and other rice. Apples vs. oranges.

Thanks, OP in for 4 bags, the cheapest I've gotten is through Sam's club and that's $20.78 for the same bag. Really good rice if cooked properly.

25.95 at El Paso, Texas Costco, it might be cheaper in your side of the country.

I think 18.99 is for 20lbs not 15lbs
