I just tried this drive as an external storage for the steam deck and the write speeds were terrible. Same with using it as an external drive for my Xbox series x. I'm sure it's blazing fast with Windows or Mac PCs but with steam deck and xbox series x this drive performed terribly.

The write speeds for long sustained writes on this arent great, because it's DRAM-less. So its fine for stuff that will be written once and read numerous times that would benefit from the fast response and read speeds of an SSD, like gaming.

Did you measure the actual speed? What do you mean by horrible?

XBox series has usb 3.2 gen 1 at 625mb/sā€¦ so slower than this drive full speed of 1050mb/s.

SteamDeck has usb 3.2 gen 2 and will get full speed out of those drive.

This will be plenty fast for either use. I've been using one for over a year on my various pcs and it works very well.
