I know it's not the BEST deal, but I do know it's the lowest price right now on the market.

This MSI dual fan combination always seems to be the cheapest of the RX 6#### GPUs. Is this design much worse than a 3 fan or different brand?

I, personally, have never seen a big difference between the 2-fan and 3-fan other than maybe overclocking capabilities. I truly think they are minimal for the average gamer.

First - I'm no expert but most* experienced folks in forums indicate the performance difference will be negligible b/w AIB models, and basically just say to get the cheapest. *Caveat to that, Hardware Unboxed did a 6600xt Roundup and found meaningful diff's in fan speeds and noise levels - But if that's not a deal breaker, just go lowest cost.
Second - This MSI Mech 2X is not always the cheapest; The BF/CM prices were lower for Asus Dual and got MUCH lower for Asrock ChallengerD model. This MSI card just seems to be the model that's still in stock.

AMD reference card has been the same price on Amazon for a while:

I personally took a gamble on an Amazon "renewed" Red-devil version for $319. I love the lights on the Red Devil. Still waiting for it to arrive Smilie

I don't get why so many cards are going to 1xHDMI & 3xDisplayPort. Instead of 2 of each.

Display Port can be so finicky sometimes.

My RX480 from XFX (2016) is 1xHDMI 3xDP, so this is nothing new. Not sure why you're having issues with DP, maybe buying cheap cables? I'm using 3 different cables, never any issues.
HDMI/HDMI
DP/HDMI
DP/DP
I prefer the DP connections for the locking button.

First I went over the top on my DP cable, definitely not some Amazon Basic cable.
I only had an issue once with my GTX 1070, for some reason at one point it stopped picking up a DP signal off either port but HDMI worked just fine. After messing with it for a while and multiple restarts DP "magically" worked again & has been fine since.

But I have heard many others with similar complaints about DP.

Like to the point I'm about to swap in a new mobo, CPU (F version), & 3060 so I'm leaning towards the first boot being with HDMI then switch to DP and make sure it works.

True! I get that it has some features that HDMI is missing, but it seems like the added complexity makes it less reliable. Half the time when I turn my computer on, the DisplayPort monitor doesn't wake up until I power cycle the monitor. My HDMI monitor, on the other hand, works every time.

I am in the same boat and leaning towards 6800xt which costed me 630 with taxes. 470ti will be costing me about 860 to 900. 4070ti on avg seems to 17to20 % faster while costing 35% more.
