You can find some no name or discount brands in that price range, but there aren't a lot of high quality brands for $50. I'd pay an extra $10 for Crucial for the assurance that comes with high quality NAND and controllers.

I used this as time machine back up for my macbook pro but it died in about 9 months. will look to see if i can exchange to get a replacement. will just use it as a regular storage and not something that is saving daily.

I'd do 1 nvme, but only because of what @tonykid said and with a raid0 you'll lose your data if one drive dies. What's the raid0 for, faster reads?

Isn't 1 TB of SSD in general $50 now? We've had quite a few deals recently that is just a tad bit over $50. Including 2.5" and PCIe 3 and 4 drives. SATA should be on the cheaper side.

I've had the 500gb, run the 4tb on my nas and also grabbed the 1tb in Decembers sale price. Good data drives I prefer nvme as boots

Mainly for the PS4 Pro. The regular PS4 uses an older SATA connector and doesn't benefit as much from a SSD.
