300W is pure fantasy, but still with a real output over 50W at this price point, it's still a bargain. Performance numbers are really respectable...

You don't want the complicated version of this. The signal to noise ratio typically takes a dive when you incorporate more components on the board.

This clean simple board provides the highest quality amplification possible.
For all non-exotic speakers. This is more than enough power to blow your face off.

Runs slightly past 4 watts at normal volume.

Sparkos Op Amps are crazy expensive. OPA 1656 have nearly the same specs as the Sparkos and can be had for $20/pair.
It's been tested on Audiosciencereview, a complete waste of money. PMA on audioscience

ASR review said it shut down well before 100W with the 32V power supply. He tried a 48V supply but it was lower current and it still shut down short of 100W. It's not clear to me if it shut down because of the design of the amp or because the PSU wasn't able to supply enough current. Even at 50-75W with a pair of bookshelf speakers, it would be uncomfortably loud for near field listening which is what it's really meant to do.
Those are test loads using test tones. Real music won't exceed 4-5 watts, and you'll already be blowing your ears out.

You can theoretically bump up the voltage carefully and add a fan if you need more power. This should be plenty loud enough for most people.
With non-exotic speakers, you will never go over 4-5 watts. Extra voltage just makes it run hotter, to no purpose. The majority of power consumption comes from producing bass frequencies, which will be current limited. 32v 10 amp is the only worthwhile increase, but we already know this is unnecessary. the stock one is perfectly fine, and it's a known quantity (quality) low noise supply.

For near field listening, 100% agree

Unfortunately, this amp doesn't come with a bass control.
Can anyone recommend me a good amp that can control bass? I am new to setting up my computer with proper speakers, and I have a Facmogu F900 that was cheap to buy and works well with my Sony SSCS5 speakers.
Anyone have any impression on this one from Amazon? It is going for around $60 at the moment:

Audio TB10D
Enhancement with TPA3255
My personal experience is that the low frequencies are thickened

No sharpness or noise problems as others have mentioned

I'm new in the world of using something like this. I want to connect Kef q150 to my computer and just learned about desktop amplifiers. What does class d mean? I have been looking at this audioengine N22 which is class AB. Is that a much better amplifier than the class d? I plan on playing classical music VERY loud through this and want something with clarity in a small room. Thanks for your thoughts!
