Brushed, producing 375 ft./lbs
Yes but still very capable. I have this exact one and have used it for many years, and it's more than suitable for the vast majority of my use. Even worked to take out large subframe bolts coated in factory locktite.

If you have the money the brushless is more powerful but for $100 with battery this is an excellent tool.
This is a very good budget impact kit which exceeds the needs of an average homeowner. Yes, it's brushed but that should be expected at this price point. This is the newer PCL265K1 model. Advertised max torque is 375 ft./lbs; real world torque is closer to 350 ft./lbs (Source: Torque Test Channel [youtube.com]) I have the older P261 model which advertises 300 ft/lbs of max torque, but it produces 205 ft./lbs in real world testing. Regardless, it always gets the job done for me around the house - removing lug nuts, changing mower blades, rusted-on bolts...shouldn't need anything more than this.

recently I purchased the dewalt 1/2" impact as I needed something around the power as an air impact but I just used a coworkers Ryobi's one similar to the posted impact here and was surprised with the power. This is def a good deal

Not bad for the price
edit: nm I just saw a review on youtube and there's a reason why these are $99, torque claim doesn't live up to it's name
Is there another folks recommend to use?

Is it worth getting the protection plan from Home Depot with this? First power tool I am purchasing.

Read the specs, it is not that strong and it is not brushless. I would pass on this deal. Wait to get at least the P262 , but the high torque is a better option.

I would say no. These usually hold up for years if taken care of or break in the first year if you get a dud.

As a mechanic this makes plenty of power for Diyers

You can get an impact driver for well under 100 bucks tho. For a while a couple of months ago the ridgid drill and driver combo with 2 batteries plus a bit kit was $90
This one is an impact wrench, it give you foot pound. The one you describe is an impact driver, it give you inch pound. The two is not the same.

I suspect you have the P261. This is the newest 265 model with much more real-world torque. Just an FYI.
