You'll definitely get better CPU performance but will be stuck with Intel Iris Xe 96EU graphics which is significantly slower than the RDNA 2 based Raseon 680M graphics. On top of that, in this one, you can add an external GPU using the USB4 port whereas the other model you've referred, doesn't even have a USB4/Thunderbolt 4 port. Check the detailed specification. So, there is no normal way of adding any thunderbolt accessories or external GPU unless you want to go with some DIY methods of using M.2 to PCIe X16 converter, separate PSU to power the GPU and loosing the capability of using any PCIe SSD.

Note: Although the USB4 port is mentioned to be 20Gbps one, it is actually a full 40 Gbps Port and has been tested with external GPU docks. YouTuber ETA Prime has already tested this model.

Ecosystem that charges exorbitant money for extra memory/storage and does not allow users to upgrade those on their own, okay!

Wow, the Mac hate is real on SD. How about - and I know this is crazy for SD - we all let the people who like Mac enjoy it without downvoting the very mention of Apple to oblivion? Sheesh. I use both, like both, and see the merits of Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, and Linux. If you want to be real about downvoting, do it to all commercial OS posts. Linux overcomes all those issues with companies trying to sell you unneeded and unwanted features and lock you in to an ecosystem. Steam Deck comes to mind on that front. And this Beelink would run pretty much any version of Linux better than Windows any day of the week. The truth is that Mac and Windows are much more user friendly at the cost of being made by huge money-driven rather than user-driven corporations. So let's be kind to people who like to use stuff, even stuff we don't like, eh?

Beelink seems to be legit company with quality products and support. I bought a cheaper SER5 Ryzen 5500U from https://amazon.com/gp/product/B0B1DBVXY1/?th=1 [amazon.com] for $310 on BF from Beelink Official. AMD mobile CPUs are running circles around Intel. Upgraded to 1TB with a $50 stick; when I had questions Beelink support sent a link to a full Windows 11 (or 10) data store, as well as drivers after a few days. So far so good... BTW, expect more mini PCs based CES'23.

So you'd rather buy a computer from a company that even let you upgrade the hard drive, cuz you're salty over an effectively cosmetic OS upgrade. Brilliant...

Please recommend a distro that is as good or better than Windows or MacOS? I'd love to see it in action, seriously.

Looks cool but I'll put that money towards mac mini

After telling me my 5 year old i7 quad with 32gb ram is unable to upgrade to windows 11, that put me in a f Windows going forward mood.

Went from Android to IOS after the fiasco with Pixel 6 pro, just moving into an ecosystem that updates hardware longer since I tend to keep my devices longer.
...what intelligent person would ever "upgrade" to Windows 11?

I'm on Pop OS. Linux is actually usable now. It blows Windows and Mac out of the water. I'm strongly considering this computer as a media center PC.

Quote from MadPup :
Linux as a desktop OS is basically where it was 20 years ago and no doubt it'll be in the same state 20 years from now. That's what happens when you don't pay anyone to improve it.
Absolutely incorrect. I game now on Linux and it does everything my Windows computer does with the exception of a few very specialized applications. I have a completely separate drive with Windows on it that I haven't used since June. Windows is painful to use now.

PopOS. Free and incredibly easy to use. Works well with Nvidia, which was Linux's Achilles heel some 10 years ago. I've heard Zorin was good (as someone else posted) but I've never used it.

What's the cheapest price someone can get for Legit Windows 11?

How is this compare to ....
Minisforum UM690 Mini PC Barebone Pre-Order: Ryzen 9 6900HX, Radeon 680M Graphics, 2x DDR5 SODIMM, 1x M.2 Gen4 2280, 1x 2.5" Bay, USB4 @ $499 + F/S (supposed to come with Windows 11 Pro(?)) And 1 USB 3.2 Type-C and 1 USB4 Type-C
Or PLUS 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD for $649 (with Windows 11 Pro)

Can anyone comment on how well these work as emulators? Based on specs it looks very good. I'm building a MAME/Retroarch/Bigbox arcade.

Multicore performance on this is only 5 percent slower than the M2. But singlecore for this is 1366 vs mac 1895. Single-core performance is 30 percent slower than the mac mini m2.

They also deleted my link in this thread. They claim that the Amazon seller doesn't have enough reviews, but it's MUCH safer and cheaper to buy thru Amazon than thru the Bee-link website. SD appears to be putting their profits first and smothering valid alternatives. One suspicion that immediately comes to mind is that OP is not an unaffiliated SD user. How can anyone trust deals posted here?
I wouldn't trust any deal posted here necessarily. After all, SD is a company working for profit. They work with online retailers to get you to buy their things. I definitely questions posts not from the community and from staff.

I've been to their site and checked out some other minis, but I can't see where there is a sound card in these computers. this one has an audio combo jack so there must be something in there, but what is it? thanks.

I agree completely but the comment was made to start a debate. He's coming to a deal that has nothing to do with Mac and leaving a comment for the sole purpose of getting a reaction. It's the same kind of people who went on the mac mini edu deal and did the same thing or who constantly troll switch deals or digital movie deals.

SD is really no different than Reddit by now. It's best to avoid comments and make your own decision Smilie

MacOS doesn't have forever updates either. A MacBook 2014 is stuck on Catalina and lost the ability to get security updates last August. That makes it 8 years of updates from the time of introduction.

Your i7 will get Windows 10 officially until October 2025, so a bit less than 3 more years for a total of 8. About the same as the MacBook.

You are picking the one example where it works against Intel. I can give you many examples of the opposite. The 2nd gen Intel from 2011 got its service from 2011 to 2025, 14 years. The 8th gen Intel is from 2018 to 2031, or 13 years.

Plus with PC you can get unofficial updates or run Linux. With Mac it is much harder to get unofficial updates.
You can put Linux on Macs (did that with an old Mini). This will be true soon with the Apple Silicon ones, which are well on their way: https://asahilinux.org
