Just make sure you tweak picture settings (at a min, take it off eco mode), and my guess is you will be pleasantly happy. That advice holds for whatever TV people buy - they usually come on a power saving mode that impact brightness.

Wow! 8.0 instead of 7.7? HUGE difference
if this TV is connected to a Soundbar via e-arc HDMI and I am streaming Netflix on the tv, would it really not be Dolby Atmos coming through the soundbar?
I was strongly considering this for the living room, but no Dolby Atmos is gonna kill it for me. The difference between Atmos and no Atmos even on a low end sound bar makes a massive difference imo.
Going from something on Netflix with Atmos compatibility like stranger things to something that's non Atmos is almost jarring at times.
For reference, I have a mediocre TCL soundbar with a wireless sub. perfect for small apartment living. It's not like I have a real home theater setup to notice the difference.
I will also note the stock speakers on my 5 series are awful, but to be expected.

That's 2022 currency
Yes it hit 200 a couple times I believe.

I got the Samsung the other day in the 65" size but realized I know to go bigger and was going to order the 75" version. Happy with the picture quality on the Sammy. Also have a TCL 4-series with Roku and like it, but it can be buggy sometimes with crashing and the need to reset.
Main drawback for me here is Best Buy returns/warranty vs. Costco. Never had a good sales/returns experience at BB so the peace of mind at Costco is worth something. Also get 4% cash back at Costco so the cost difference is a bit greater. Thoughts?
What does general viewing mean to you? General viewing to me is not going to press any TV too significantly on the grounds of it is general - probably not even fancy cameras to record it. Watching a YouTube creator vlog or Sports Center isn't going to showcase much of a difference. To me, that is general viewing. Most kids programming - cartoons, kid sitcoms, family sitcoms…that stuff is probably not even filmed with cameras where the phrase "peak brightness" is mentioned by anyone, never mind HDR, Dolby Vision, etc.
There is a reason I have the 6 series with my 5.1.4 set up now and not the 4 series. You are right, during HDR intensive movies and such, there is a difference. I don't know what any person is using their TV for the most, hence why I said GENERAL viewing.
So please let me know how my comment undoes itself. Or did you simply read general viewing as "my viewing habits" and attack me.
PS - rtings says the 4 series peak HDR brightness is more than double your claim.

Also more interested in the 55 inch for $380. Maybe the 65 inch but I would be using the stand not wall mount and might be too big for my TV stand
I have a 50" 4 Series since the last 4 years and I have no issues or problems with it. I'm actually bored of the fact that it hasn't given me a reason to purchase a new one! Lol
