From MicroCenter email received today:

Free 32GB DDR5-6000 with purchase of any Ryzen (7 or 9) 7000 series process

I don't have a URL to this promo but am attaching a screenshot of it. Clicking the URL in the email directs me to MicroCenter's Build and Save (CPU/Motherboard) combos

Note: this is in store only and while supplies last. I don't have a MicroCenter nearby so please send thumbs up for sharing and if you find this beneficial.

The 7700x with 32gb of ram is a significantly better deal IMO. By the time you were to add another 16gb onto this deal you're at the price of the 7700x

If you're starting from scratch, this deal or the $50 motherboard deal with in intel better?

This is the sort of thing that really makes me believe that there is a glut of computer hardware on the market - throwing in free stuff if you buy other stuff - haven't seen that in years......

Cpu+ram from this deal, motherboard, GPU, power supply, hardrives, and case if you're not reusing. PCPartPicker.com is a good place to check to make sure you have everything and if they're compatible.

If building a PC for gaming, performance is really just limited by the GPU now. This is a powerful CPU and great deal, but would be wasted on games unless you have a $700+ card. If your budget is closer to $300-500 for a GPU, a Ryzen 5600 (~$120) + 16GB DDR4 ram (~$60) would perform the same for gaming.

this is probably way overkill. just find a used computer with a 3060ti and ryzen 5000 series or intel 10600k or higher. new graphics cards aren't cheap at all so you should find a deal on a used complete PC.

Do you have any benchmarks or reference to show the value difference? I'm honestly on the fence between the two choices and wondering if the performance is worth the 7700x and more RAM.

Thank you. I decided to spend money now to upgrade his PC to the best except the video card. I found a PowerColor fighter 6800 for about $400 + tax, with new case, new 1TB NVMe, and 750W PSU, total about $1300 including tax. His old case is too small, and his PSU was only 400W. OS is free for me from work, not a bad deal for the money I spent.

7600X (6 Cores/12 Threads) + one stick of 16GB DDR5-5600 = $248
7700X (8 Cores/12 Threads) + two sticks of ram which totals 32GB DDR5-6000 = $344

If you get the 7600X package and are NOT planning on buying another stick of ram for dual-channel, then you should go with the 7600X package. This setup is honestly fine in my opinion for most productivity stuff and gaming (unless it's more serious/needs more power).

On the other hand, if you ever want dual-channel RAM + more longevity then the 7700X is hands down the better deal. One stick of 16GB DDR5 would cost you probably around $70? At that point, you'd be paying for $248 + $70 = $318 for a 7600X and 32GB dual channel RAM. That's $26 cheaper than the 7700X.

Helpful vids:
- DDR5 RAM speed doesn't affect gaming too much (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPTGQkYoa48)
- 7600X vs 7700X = Ties in some games but 7700X fares better in games that use more cores + will be more "future proof" as games being to utilize more cores. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LNQhHykNMI)

In the past they *were* giving away 32gb DDR5 6000 CL30 memory. Now its CL36. This downgrade has really taken the slick out of this deal for me.

They have a hard time selling these because everybody's waiting on the 3d version.

Its several things coming together.

Many upgraded during COVID so they have a newer system already. On top of that you don't see the gains you use to. I remember when you went from 1 socket to another there were 30%+ gains plus ability to over clock and many useful features.

Now you might get 10% but only in certain task. So not much reason to upgraded for just 1 Gen change.
I went from a 2700x to a 5600x. That was a good difference. But I will wait for the next update before thinking of upgrading now.

All that and people afraid of the economy and you get all these parts starting to pile up.
Its why we're now seeing video cards start dropping in price.

If you need a system a new CPU with memory is a great deal, esp for socket AM5 which will have some upgrade path.

Ever since CompUSA went bust, we haven't had a big computer store in our town. Thankfully, there are 3 Micro Center stores in our state, and 2 of them are just a bit over 1 hour away in two different directions. While I probably wouldn't make a trip just to go to Micro Center, I often make an excuse to stop at the store if I'm driving by already.
