So much want, but holding out for Ryobi's entry.

And I have a deck to build within the next 60 days.

I'm waiting for the Ryobi version. Hopefully it'll pop up soon. I got a 93 foot fence to build this summer.
Two different YouTube reviewers of the Ryobi framing nailer have stated it is supposed to drop this month, but I haven't seen an offical announcment. One reviewer stated it was almost identical to the Rigid version.

I waited for too long for Ryobi to make one available so I got the Ridgid framing nailer. I didn't want to go in to 2 tool systems, but now I'm glad I did diversify my portfolio.

I've no complaints with mild use of the nailer so far, and it's got the LSA.
Same. I got tired of waiting and I bought the 30 degree nailer and a 4Ah starter kit this past weekend for about $240-$250 from DTO.

I got 18v metabo power tools and thought of picking the metabo framing nailer with one battery from Lowes after price matching amazon ($300). I am doing my basement and in need of a framing nailer (other nailers will be loaned from a friend).

Anyone know if weight, performance on rigid outperforms metabo?

Thought of getting metabo as Hitachi tools were good and I would get one more battery added to the system.

Keep an eye on DTO. I picked up a Ryobi brad nailer for $35 in December.

I'll be building a 12 x 16 backyard studio this spring for my wife and this is really tempting. Never used a nail gun before. Is this overkill for one project? At this price I guess I could try to sell it later. I just don't see needing it for anything once the building is done.

ETA I just went ahead and bought one. It'll be worth it if it makes the job a bit easier. I've built a couple smaller sheds before but mostly used screws.

This has me wondering if I can find a Ryobi battery adapter to fit this thing. I've got a deck to build and don't have time to wait for the Ryobi version to hit DTO.
You can adapt any slide on battery to Ryobi. Or for that matter any other 18V slide on. Unless the battery will be enclosed. You can't adapt Ryobi to anything because of the huge vertical stalk. One of the many reasons to start with rigid since the batteries are LSA and can be used anywhere. Easy to add cheap Ryobi tools and an adapter if needed. Also.... Why would you be using a framing nailer on a deck? Do it right and use screws.

I know Makita works on ridgid and Ryobi with an adapter.

Would you still get the Ryobi if it costs more than this Ridgid?

Depends on how much more. $50...yes. $100...hard to say.

Having all of my tools on one battery system really makes things convenient. Not a tradesperson, just an avid DIY'r. Always lots of building projects happening on my property, which means the tools get a lot of use.

For the framing

Last deck I built was mostly through bolts and joist hangers which required their own special nails. Screws on the decking... Maybe a dozen fasteners on the ends of the joists but it's hardly worth purchasing a nailer. Unless of course one is just fishing for a reason to buy a tool, which I wholeheartedly support. I have a full compliment of pneumatic nailers (15, 16, 20 gauge, framing, crown stapler, coil roofing) and have replaced all but the roofing and crown stapler with battery powered because of "projects". I also replaced a plug in drywall gun with a battery one. I find it much easier to slip some tool purchases by the wife if I "need it for a project" but you can definitely build a deck without this nailer. Then again, I could walk to work, but I'll take my car every day.
