Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

After I cancelled the 2nd order, the "your rebate didn't work out" ribbon went away. See the attached screenshot. So not sure if it was tied to the first order or the 2nd order.

Yes, you can have Hello give you a new phone number. It shows on your account page after the SIM kit ships. Account number too. PIN is supposed to be last 4 digits of new phone number. Another poster said to activate Sim on a phone before porting it over.

For those worried about canceling a previous order and reordering or thinking you need to use a new Gmail address, check here first:

I got a credit voided notification when I cancelled my original order but already had my new order in but confirmed with Fi chat there was no issues and the void notification was tied to the order I cancelled but was not able to verify myself until I checked this link and looked at the "in progress" tab

Not sure if the order matters. I cancelled my first order and then placed the 2nd order. It seems many folks here placed the 2nd order first and then cancelled their original orders. Not sure if that plays a role.
