Sorry but that is not entirely true. After activating new phone sim with Google Fi, as long as you don't insert the Google Fi sim in a "different phone", you are fine. Most, like myself, simply tossed the Google Fi sim in a drawer and no problems getting the $500. Using a different carriers sim in the S22 the entire time.

FakeBro, stop spreading Fake information. This is 100% not true. In the last 3-4 months, I purchased 3 Fold4 and all were just activated on the device and now the sim is seating in the drawer, and never got a chargeback. And one device has already crossed the qualification period and the other 2 will complete their qualification window in 12-15 days.

Just an FYI on obtaining a valid cell number to port. I posted this earlier on in the thread but seems to have been overlooked by many as this is a long thread.

I ordered the five dollar per month plan on hello mobile website. It includes talk text and 500 MB data. Free sim and taxes included. The account number for porting is given to you in an email and you can see it as well by logging into your account online, no need to use their app. The porting pin is the last four digits of your phone number, I confirmed that with customer service. Hope this helps some here who need a valid phone number to port and do not want to take any risk with GV numbers as things may have changed this year.

And bonus, the five dollar hello mobile plan second month is free. No coupon code or referral required. This comes in handy just in case the delivery date keeps getting pushed back by Google Fi.

maybe so, but i think I've seen some post mention that they received theirs already, orders that took place after. I'm okay with some delays, but man over 1-month plus is crazy.

Did you take any pictures of the package right then and there?
Yes, I took pictures and video. Fedex people demanded I delete the video, but I refused. They didn't let me film them leaving the box for return it back to the sender and now the tracking shows as delivered and there is only my word that I didn't pick up the box.

Did you contact Google fi about this?

Did you open the package in front of a store employee? There are hidden cameras in those stores.
I didn't even have to open it - the box was obviously empty. I received another box with a phone as well so the difference is obvious. Fedex worker while taking boxes of the shelf said I had two boxes with phones, but he didn't tell one was too light.

I did contact Fi and they are conducting investigation. I have videos shot the very minute I signed, but Di didn't ask for it yet.

At this stage I would rather have them just refund the order and not send a replacement but I'm afraid to ask for it so as not to confuse the system.

I hope the video and pictures will support your case with Fi. It's a terrible situation. Best of luck.

I'm not one to buy or upgrade phones very often, so am typically out of the loop, but jeez with all these stories of empty boxes and missing phones in this thread, my gosh, is it this common with every new phone release? iphone and Samsung? i understand phones getting stolen while out and about, but prior to delivery? that's insane. but on the other hand, I imagine the shape of a new phone delivery box is probably very unmistakable.

With the new phones getting more and more expensive, it's a good source of income for the thieves.

The FedEx offices near where the Fi phones are shipped (Cucamonga CA. Carol Stream IL) probably pick up hundreds of them every day. It's easy for the thieves to recognize the boxes with the phones without having to read the shipping labels.

Just so that I understand, you ordered two phones? I'm just curious if the second box may have been the return for a trade-in?

No, I ordered two S23 Ultras, one on my account, another on my wive's. I also somehow had mu trade-in for my wife not attached to the order, just noticed it today. Ugh..i wish I had just refused delivery, but was afraid it would confuse them.

But Google Fi can always lock or blacklist the phones, as those are claimed undelivered…

I don't know, since I'm not in the business of selling stolen phones. The thieves might be selling the phones to unsuspecting people on Craiglist who can't track down the thieves after finding out the phones are blacklisted, or sell them to users in 3rd world countries where US-blacklisted phones might still work. Just my speculation. Maybe someone who is familiar with selling stolen/blacklisted phones can enlighten us.

Just to be on safe side, can I leave the Google Fi physical sim in the S23 (that now has a dummy Tello number) and then convert my regular Boost Mobile number to an esim on the same S23?

Can I then use data from my Boost Mobile esim on S23 and just keep the Google Fi sim active without using data? on Fi website, I changed the data limit on my google Fi plan to 0.5 GB as I don't want it to make it 0 (to avoid revocation of 500 credit). Please guide.

Stolen phones could be sold for cash before they are reported stolen.

My phone was supposed to be delivered last Saturday. When I requested last Tuesday to pick up at Fedex location delivery date was still Saturday until on Saturday there was an exception "customer unavailable or business closed", despite Fedex store was open on Saturday... It was available for pickup on Monday- today.

This gave thieves from last Wednesday till today to sell it. They can also sell them abroad.

This question has been answered over and over but yes you can. I'm doing it now with Verizon on esim
