Hello I have that a new fi member activated the device message. However I have not even opened the case/used the phone.

I did cancel and reorder. What does that have to do with the message?
I'm not sure about your case. I had a situation in Dec last year with a Fi S22 that I ordered as a non-active existing member. The phone was received but I purposely delayed activating it to wait for Fi credit from a trade-in to be available first, so I wouldn't have to pay from my credit card. On the 18th day from shipment, I got an email from Fi saying "Don't lose your promotion. A new Fi member activated the phone". I had not even opened the box. I checked the checklist and there was a yellow exclamation mark with the same message "A new Fi member activated the phone". So I went ahead and activate the phone with a port-in from my GV number and the next day the exclamation mark was removed and the countdown started. I think it was a case of Fi system running amuck.

BOX WAS EMPTY!!!!

Delivered today. I can tell box was tampered with. Seal still on, but one side of box ripped out and put back in. Only thing inside was the brown stuffing paper. Furious. Calling Google now to see what to do.
Just a follow-up........Received my replacement phone today. This time it was overnighted from Carol Stream, IL. Activated and up and running smoothly now.

Can you join group plan after getting this deal?
Will it invalidate the deal if you join an existing plan?

Did anyone else have issues with the trade in? I got a email from Google saying that they received either a "unknown device" or "empty box". I literally can't get any details out of them and am scared they will send back an empty box. I sent in a mint condition note 20 ultra and don't know what to do in this situation. Their customer service is literally the worst I've ever seen.

You surely can. I would go with a physical sim instead in case I need to change phone or throw away the sim while in a foreign country.

Enjoy your new phone and your international travels. Watch out for pocket-pickers in crowded areas.
If I take out the phyiscal sim, I believe will cause problem right, because the FI Sim has to be in the phone all the time (that is my understand). Have any one try to take the phone international and the billing count down still works?

My FedEx tracking said "Shipment exception Unable to deliver." So I contacted FedEx and they told me they received an empty box. I'm guessing someone stole it before they could hold at one of their pickup locations. Contacted Fi support and they brought it up to Shipping and Refunds specialist. Should be contacted tomorrow to know what's going to happen with my order. Unlucky i guess.

No, the Fi SIM does not have to stay in the S23 phone all the time, and the phone doesn't have to be on all the time either. There was a post from FakeBro earlier in the thread with misinformation that caused a lot of needless worry. After my Fi S23 was activated and the countdown started, I removed the physical Fi SIM, stashed it away and started using the phone with my Tracfone SIM. It continues to count down each day.

Some people took video of them putting the trade-in phone into the box, sealing it and mailing it. That only proves that they did mail the phone, but doesn't resolve the issue of the package arrives empty with the content stolen somewhere. Unfortunately, the prepaid label provided by Fi is for First-Class Package which carries only $100 insurance by default. In most cases, only the shipper who paid for the shipping cost can file a claim with the carrier. With the shipping being prepaid by Fi, they probably will have to file the claim. There were past posts from people who had their trade-in phone stolen, sometimes Fi gave them the credit if they could prove that they mailed the phone, sometimes Fi said "Tough Luck". Hopefully your case will have good outcome.

Okay, so with Boost Mobile being down ( and God knows when they might be up and running .. ) I reached out to Fi support ( chat ) and explained my predicament, thereby requesting them to reset my Port-in from Boost so I could re-do it with a different carrier ( Tello )

The guy was more than happy to oblige, and I verified that resetting the port-in process ( it was stuck due to an incorrect PIN and there's absolutely NO way for me to contact or reach Boost Mobile for a port out PIN, as it stands right now ) will not remove the promo from Fi. He confirmed as such ( got the chat emailed to me, just in case.. )

He reset the port-in at his end, and I re-started the process and literally within 2 minutes I was done!! Within 5 minutes, I was able to send/receive calls and data started working as well. I also logged in to Fi and saw the number has been ported and assigned to the Fi sim! ( Pheww .. )

Now, waiting for the Fi countdown to start before I remove the Fi sim altogether!

Major kudos to the Fi support team for coming thru so efficiently!!

BTW, If you have Tello.. it was the easiest port out process! I did not have to call anyone or chat with anyone. From your account, they have a "port" section that you can click on, answer a couple of questions right there, and the site spits out ALL the info you'd need in seconds!

Unlike Boost ( where you need to call and get a 6 digit Port Out PIN ), Tello doesn't have a any such requirement. They suggest leaving it blank or using either 0000 or 000000. I used 000000 and Fi took it.

I had also only signed up with them in the last 2 hrs, since Boost is all f'd up.. I'm glad I had bought a Tello sim ( as a back up ) from Amazon!
thanks for the workaround sharing. . My point if any failure on webpage, it can be tried alternatively on the phone app. it looks the app and webapge action has different restriction/policy from GOOGLE database.
my experience in details is,
1. try to port in boost # but with wrong pin. ask google Fi to cancel the number transfer.
2. buy the new tello number and try to port in the number.
3. navigate to the port in page in the Fi website on PC.
4. the system does not ask me what number to port in, but ask a. zipcode. b. what new number i want. i made one error here, i select one new number.
5. the new number won't show for about 2 hours. And Fi website page still show the option to port in number, where i tried brutally several times and failed to port in tello number to replace the new Fi assigned number. The Google Fi agent cannot solve it. be noted, staying with the Fi generated number and not port-in old number will disqualify the promo.
6. i tried again on the Fi app in the phone, the port-in tello number and replacing Fi assgined number got success.
7. after 6 hours, the promo process in Fi app show the port-in procedure is done, wait for another 115 days to fulfil the promo.
8. after another couple of hours, the step_7 information also show in the Fi website in PC.
6.

I had an issue with my tradein where the post office seemed to loose track of the package for a couple of weeks where the status was stuck at accepted and was not delivered. I raised an issue with USPS and they closed it with out resolving anything. I chatted with support and they asked for the phone imei and opened a ticket to trace the package. After a couple of days they issued me a full credit for the tradein value. As it happened USPS located my package and delivered it a week after I recieved the credit.

Wow sorry to hear that. How much time had passed between your package being delivered and you getting that email? And what does it say on our trade-in status page?
