LOL, but in all seriousness, this is a hell of a deal and more than $100 off. Home Depot selling 8 foot studs for $3.35 right now, and when you "spend" the Menards rebate, you don't pay sales tax on the part of the purchase made with rebate check. So in my mind, this is about $143 off of $343 worth of studs.
And in my experience, you should only have to check about 20 in the pile to find one even remotely straight!

are you saying its not a good deal?
I thought its 33% saving on current prices on studs.

Never bought studs, but will be getting some for projects.

No don't worry about them. They were trying to be smart. It is a good deal if you have use for the rebate.

2x4s are cheap again as is. If you want to gamble on a rebate go for it.

True. My local lumber yard is selling 2x4x10's for $4.50.

Not a gamble if the base price is good

A friend of mine is a salesman for a lumber supply. He says that the big box stores all get the top choice lumber and THEN the lumber yards get supplied. Big box stores have more volume therefore control the market. Lumber yards typically supply builders. Professional framers know how to deal with whatever lumber they are given.

pardon me if I am wrong but:
2' x 4' x 8' Construction/Framing Lumber

they sure are not 2 feet by 4 feet by 8 feet!
its 2" x 4" x 8'... the marker ' is for feet, and " is for inches (at least in the US)

To be fair... It is framing lumber. For framing most of those 20 you passed over would still be fine.

Interesting. Homes are built from bulk buys at lumber yards..not big box stores. I'm surprised yards don't do the majority of the business since box stores are smaller projects. Maybe it is because lumber yards are fragmented all over the country and box stores are a conglomerate.
