FYI Project Farm also tested the GB40 and it didn't do very well, he also tested both the Gooloo's that I have and they did great.
the workmanship is top notch.
however:
- it is annoying that they do not give you a hard case. their fabric pouch is a joke.
- apparently their "start amp" (which they do not advertise or list
btw: noco gb40 retains charge really well. after several month mine only loses one circle.
lastly, and to be fair, my gb40 has not failed me yet. i used it once on a mini-cooper.
however, knowing what i know now, i would not buy it again.
I spent hours and hours last couple of days on having one of these. So, I have narrowed it down to
Gooloo GT4000s, 4000amp, and 28600 mah battery, for 130 on Amazon and Walmart right now, GT series has newer features such as lcd display etc. (GT4000, without the s, has some warming feature for ultra cold climate and is around 200) this high capacity is worth it for peace of mind
Gooloo GP4000, is almost the same above but without the LCD feature and some less whistles, is 110 on Walmart and Amazon.
Yesper yjs40 with 4120Amp but less mah battery than gooloo has also good rating, and only 90 on Walmart, 150 on Amazon
I can not begin how much contradictions, and flawed reviews I have found, nothing consistent. But, that's what I have picked lesser of all evils and on lower end price with high Amp and mah battery. I am torn between gooloo gt4000s for 130 (extra 20 over gp model may be worth ot for newer improved features) and yesper with around 4.7/4.8 user ratings. If you find something, please add. But don't go for lower than 3000amp on Lithium starters and always look for higher mah batteries as a general rule.
Alternatively, the acid lead batteries JNC660 from clore on Walmart is about a good one but is old style, heavy and bulky.

I do not think the 4000 model with preheating feature is 70 dollar more any worth it. Where I live it occasionally goes with windchill only sometimes below -4 degree. If you are not in constant such brutal climate, I would go without worrying about the "preheating" feature. If any cold snap dawns on you in winter, then you may just keep it at home and not in your cold car for it to be ready when you might need it.

Don't overpay for this and buy one of the recommended models from the project farm YouTube video.
Whatever you buy should charge from USB C, for ease of use / higher charging power / future proofing, instead of microUSB.
I've since purchased the gooloo brand for myself / family. I do keep the noco around to let people borrow it, but even with regular charging, the batteries are garbage and the unit doesn't have enough power to start anything unless you use boost and the car battery can't be completely dead.
The only thing this jumpstarter reliably works on is a weak generator or lawnmower battery. If it's dead, you're out of luck.
It applies power to the battery, which the starter would then draw from, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how a jump pack would then fry your starter?
You can fry your starter by providing 24v or by trying to start your engine without letting it rest.

I bought a Hulkman Alpha 85 on Amazon for $100 back in October and it's leagues better than this for only $25 more. I haven't had issues with it losing power sitting unused for over a month, and its started multiple cars with fully dead batteries.
I'd definitely recommend spending an extra $25+ and getting a higher end jumper box.
$103 on Newegg right now.

These don't come with a case so I spent $35 for their overpriced case, but damn is it a heavy duty quality case I don't regret purchasing.
