Metro will activate the SIM within 2 weeks of your delivery date, but I don't think it will automatically activate your phone/trigger the device's internal unlock counter. You have to install the SIM and turn on the phone for that. I noticed my phone's unlock date was exactly 181 days after I put my SIM into the phone and not when the SIM was activated two weeks prior, so it was a good thing I put it into my phone before the first month was over. Might've had to pay for another month and start the counter from there.

Can confirm that I only spent money on the first month and kept it in a drawer afterwards for exactly 180 days after my SIM activated, but it said I wasn't eligible for a unlock until about 2 weeks later after that (180 days after I finally turned the phone on with the SIM inside). Bought this phone back in June (with the deal at discounted price with first month, not this better deal at free with first month) and unlocked just about 2 weeks ago.

The unlock setting (built into the phone, not a separate app) gives a very distinct, red X with message saying that I didn't reach the requisite 180 days to unlock the device, but that message about the 180 days disappeared after waiting a few weeks longer and in its place was a link to try a 'permanent unlock', which worked.

At 15x the price.

This is a very serviceable phone for folks who don't want to dish out $600. Or can't.
It's actually more since you have to stay in Fi for 120 days so about $100-120 more based on taxes and fees.

Has anybody activated their phone and popped in a sim from another carrier on the T-mobile network to see what happens?

No. He's just confusing people with an unverified opinion. I've let a myriad of Metro accounts expire, and my latest handset was delivered today. After another arrived Friday. I got 2 more last time around.
Is there a limit how many you can order in a particular time frame like a year or so ? I heard it is two per year. Just want to make sure.

Once you get your phone, can you activate it after a month?

yap i wanna change the position of triple navigation . any clue?
Pixel does the same thing. I ended up changing all my Android phones to swipe gestures vs the stupid buttons. More screen area too lol.
One Plus N20 can customize navigation buttons.

It's a crap shoot on purchases.

If you don't activate it, the SIM auto-activates in a couple of weeks.

Swipe gesture is at least consistent across all Android. Unlike the button navigation.

Pixel also does power button on top of the volume buttons, further tripping up Samsung users. I don't know why they think messing with muscle memory is a good idea.

Is this your first Metro order to the destination address or you've had previous orders going there?

I bought this in december, it's an amazing phone for $40. you have to wait 6months to unlock the sim to use on other carriers tho.
Which other carrier is a better overall experience?
