The ascendant spacefaring 4X strategy game returns! A new chapter in the epic Master of Orion saga is poised to once again capture the imaginations of millions of gamers.
Bought and spent 12 hours playing the original MOO (I didn't dare to take on the Impossible difficulty after so many years of not touching it, but Hard wasn't actually hard, well, I think I got pretty lucky with the map I got). Boy, did that bring back the memories! This was the best game of the series in my opinion - no annoying micromanagement, just pure strategy.
Vintage VGA graphics on a modern monitor looked fine to me.
I had to make some changes to the dosbox config file (dosboxMOO1.conf) that came with it:
fullscreen=false (to play it in a window)
windowresolution=1280x960 (basically, 4x the original 320x240, I played on a 1080p screen)
autolock=false (disables mouse cursor jail within the game screen)
cycles=12000 (default 'auto' ran with 3000 and the game was a lagging mess)

This is a good deal. I bought this pack a few years ago for $25. Great nostalgia to play this again.
I know, I have the Battlechest from the old days of physical but I'm pretty sure those copies wont work anymore on Win 10
Which makes me sad to think of all the games I bought during Win 98 wont work anymore.
And even a few that I bought that we ported, like from Gog, arent that great, or my memory overhyped it

It's one thing back and watching the terminator 2 movie. At the time, cutting edge graphics and stuff.
Since then we've seen things man. Seen things... LOL
Wow, good ole MOO2. . .I was never really great at these games but the RPG elements were still damn fun. I think it was enhanced by the fact Babylon 5 was in syndication at the time. Better times. . .
I was totally hooked on MOO 1 as a kid. It will be a sad day if this game ever stops working for some reason. I'd keep my old 2009 netbook just to be able to play this.

P.S. You can buy just MOO and MOO2 for less than a buck
