Overall, assuming not much changed between them, they're fairly overrated but polarizing. I'm glad I skipped the sequel because nothing I've ever heard about this game has made me think I was missing out.

The way how they killed of a beloved character in a stupid way and the decisions characters make throughout the story that most people weren't want to play through and more

They want you to get both perspectives. Kind of not fair to have a one sided story.
Joel killed a lot of people in the first game bro lol. And all those people he killed had families. And not everyone of those people had to be killed. Stop ignoring the fact that every action has consequences.
