I went looking for a physical copy of Gran Turismo 7 for PS5 to prepare for the PS VR2 and found it at Best Buy for $39.99. Figured I'd post in case some of you are looking for it.

Best Buy - Gran Turismo 7 Standard Edition - PlayStation 5 ($39.99 + Free S&H) [bestbuy.com] - Compatible with PS VR2 with free update download

Also, the PS4 version is on sale for $29.99. Free in-store pickup is available.

Best Buy - Gran Turismo 7 Standard Edition - PlayStation 4 ($29.99) [bestbuy.com]

Happy gaming! Cool

EDIT: Other retailers have just reduced their price as well. Nonetheless, this is the lowest price I've seen in 2023 and is a great deal for anyone getting it for PS VR 2:

Amazon - Gran Turismo 7 Standard Edition - PlayStation 5 ($39.99 + Free S&H) [amazon.com]
GameStop - Gran Turismo 7 - PlayStation 5 ($39.99 + Free In-Store Pickup) [gamestop.com]

It seems like this game is heavy on micro-transactions.
Not buying til its sub 30. They updates are nice but they are still messing with in-game currency and microtransactions and shit. Dont want to have a miserable grind.
Whoa. I had no idea that VR mode was a offered as a free update on GT7! Nice find!

I honestly don't understand why people whine about this game, unless their expectation is that you should be able to easily purchase all 400+ cars (which I think is a ridiculous expectation).

As you progress through the game they give you cars and technically you don't have to purchase a single other car and you will beat it just fine. I only purchased maybe 10 cars total and most of those I never even used in a race. Purchasing cars isn't a requirement or a necessity to win. There is also NO grinding at all involved. I never once had to repeat a race. I never had to do anything other than play the main missions (so to speak) in order to win. I just don't get it.

I mean it's less about them pushing the micro transactions in your face and more about the game being very grind heavy. For a game with this many cars, there is no reason they would do this for "better player experience" unless they were trying to incentivise to buy the extra credits with real money. You're advice to not buy expensive cars in a video game, that you bought, that has full control of it's own economy, is a little nonsensical. There are cool rewards for hardcore players, and then there are rewards that aren't reasonably obtainable unless you played GT7 like a full time job

People are allowed to not like the game for this reason, idk why you're getting so angry. Yes you can play the game still and have some level of fun, but I can definitely understand why someone would feel less enchanted by a game more interested in manipulating you to spend additional money then to just have a well balanced progression experience. In a car game especially, that's a big component to fun factor
There is a weird balance to strike. Same with engine swap mechanic. Rareness, difficulty in acquiring, etc - all add to the mystique of it. If I wanted to run in a lobby full of LS swapped JDM cars, Id fire up Forza Horizon (I bought the FH5 100$ package at launch, played a bit, got bored of it very fast, maybe have only touched it once since launch month).

I have a lot of cars, equivalent to maybe 90M CR worth - all earned in game. I think my most expensive purchase was a car worth a few mil (F40, 911 GT1 maybe, I forget which). I have way more fun owning 5x 911 930, Audi TT, Evo4, etc, tuning them for different things and really making each car a purpose driven machine. Which thankfully in this game, the cars do have very distinct feel to them, even same model with different build goals.

Will I ever own the 917 or any of the other 10-20M CR cars? Probably not, but maybe if I keep stacking cash up, but truthfully I have 5x copies of probably a few dozen cars because I like building them up for different things. I might be in the serious minority and probably closer to the race game enthusiast category than most. I bought the PS5 for this game alone, and play almost exclusively on single player.

My biggest gripe with this would be the events. I have no problem with Menu Books driving progression, I actually enjoy that. I want more events at the tracks given, especially for the 400-500 PP range. And the absolute killer for me is the Endurance races being under the 'Missions' section, which payout only once. I really enjoy a few of the 'Human Comedy' missions (only endurance races in game) and would happily run them over and over again, as they are challenging. But running for 1H, spending CR to build up a car for the event, and getting 0 at the end (for each finish after initial completion payout) is a bit weak. Nothing against the 30min races but having all of the 1H events be one and done for payouts is really disappointing.

If you like driving and own a PS5, you probably already have the game. If youre on the fence, Id recommend it for sure, especially if you are okay with ~15 cars out of the 400+ being unobtainable and can live within the reach of owning the regular 400+ cars with ease. Aside from having a unicorn car, there is really no reason to ever touch the microtransactions. This isnt like GTAO where PD is printing millions Billions from them, this is a situation where something in the 99% is obtainable, but with quite a bit of effort the 1% is also attainable, or shell out some $$$ and have it instantly.

I'm really surprised by all the blow back in this thread. I'd typically wait for a game to be cheaper before buying, but I bought this in anticipation of psvr2. I played for a bit beforehand, and it was already a great racing game--being able to use the dual sense gyro function to steer was a game changer. The game itself is gorgeous and fairly realistic. The menu system and "NPCs" feel very Japanese, and I'm not the biggest fan of the soundtrack. I hadn't even really thought about the microtransactions before reading this thread. Needless to say, they're not an issue.

If you do have psvr2, this is an absolute must buy, incredible experience so far. Be careful though, before you know it, you'll be buying a steering wheel and the rig to go with it.

Those "jackasses" brought attention to a part of the game that sucks.

The reality is the game was built with online and micro transactions in mind.
If we just "ignore it" that doesn't help with future installments.
What microtransactions is everyone taking about? Been playing it a few months and the only thing I've seen is an option to buy credits. Farming credits isn't too and but boring but at no point did I ever think I'd need to buy credits.

That's not what people mean by grind (at least people that compare it with previous GT's especially in the offline era). They mean fewer credits per time spent. Those endurance races were actually pretty bad for grinding since they didn't give too many credits per time spent. In the offline era, there were some races that gave you a lot of money for completing something that was not too hard and didn't take a lot of time. In the online era (GT5 and 6, never played Sport) there were seasonal events that also did that. It appears that with GT7 this has greatly reduced, or eliminated, and why wouldn't it, there is always going to be that conflict of interest with microtransactions.
