I'd probably go for this one instead though as it's supposed to be a good drive. $60....

Good enclosures are available for many different prices. I have a few, including this one for $16 (SSK Aluminum Enclosure Adapter External). Note: it includes both USB A and C cables but is NOT tool free (there is a screw). Many enclosures are "cheaping" out now and you'll have to buy a separate USB A cable. I have a 2TB WD SN850x in it now (paid $155 for it, but I wanted the extra space). I'm tempted to get another enclosure to have on hand or use with M.2 SATA drives as well. UPDATE - I just bought another one of these (you can't go too far wrong for $16) for a 500GB SATA drive that I'm going to use as a phone back up device).

Just enter the title above if you want to search without SDs parasite attached to the link below, which I can't stand personally as they follow you around the web and suck off sites).

Total is about $76, and you can use the drive in a computer should the need arise. You can also repurpose the enclosure and use it for cloning, etc. The Crucial can't be opened from what I've read (well, without voiding the warranty that is). You can pry it open, but you broke it, you're stuck with what you get.

PS - the drive and enclosure (spec of 10 Gb/S, but you're not going to see anything like that ( TB 4.0 ???) is going to be much faster too. I get at least 350+ MB/s (2800 Mb/S), vs the 800 Mb/S someone listed above, on a regular USB 3.0 port. I can also use Thunderbolt on a couple of PCs, but USB 3.0 is the baseline.

1TB externals like this are not going to hold much comparative value in 6 months.

Spend an extra $15-20 and get a real SSD and enclosure. Far better utility in the long run just in case you ever wanted to put it in a computer....
Can't you just pop this open and take out the nvme drive from it?

Does this contain a 2.5" SSD inside? If so, is it shuckable?
