How do I add a motherboard to my laptop? And if I was able to do that, how would I get the offline cloning functionality out of it?

I feel like you're not grasping exactly what this can do.

Amazing. So quick to condemn/condescend, without considering some basic possibilities?

Like OP said: what if you have a laptop?

Also:
-What if you have a ThinkCentre Tiny Gen 2?
-What if you only have ONE NVMe slot?
-What if you have 3x NVMe slots but you don't want to remove the other two drives?
-What if you build systems for people, and help people upgrade their systems on a regular basis (which just might include cloning their old data to a new drive)?

What a waste of money this device is (/s). I think I might buy one.

This device is simple. But if you have basic tech skills, you can buy a USB->NVMe adapter for $15 and use free Macrium Recovery to clone. It's the go-to solution in my shop and I clone frequently.

The USB adapter can be USB-A or USB-C and even 10Gbps. You can buy SATA version or NVMe version. You can use it on a desktop or laptop (just need 2 open USB ports).

This device is one-button convenient, but doing it my ways is cheaper.

I bought this about a week ago at $119 and was hesitant because of the price, but I'm really impressed with the quality. I paid far less years ago for a sata HDD/SSD version that has served me well, but the performance of this thing puts that to shame. I've been playing a bit of musical drives lately because of all the SSD deals and have done quite a lot of cloning. I have sizes ranging from 500GB to 2TB and the cloning process takes about 10-15 minutes. I had one clone that seemed to fail around 75%, but I simply turned it off and started over.

I highly recommend this for anyone using NVMe SSDs. If you're simply getting an SSD for your PS5, this device isn't necessary and probably isn't for you.

Offline Cloning Function? Is it a software? Will we get a key?
I'm surprised offline cloning doesn't get discussed more because I can't live without it. No, you don't need a key or any software to use the clone. It simply works exactly as the original. For a Windows drive, it boots up exactly the same as the source drive when you put it in. Your computer will never know the difference.

The process is simple... you just attach both drives, connect to power, turn it on, and hold down the button to start the cloning process. You then end up with two identical drives. After testing that both work perfectly, put one away in a safe place.

I clone my drives whenever I set up a fresh install and then again periodically. So any time I have a Windows problem that seems unfixable, I simply pop in my clone and I'm back in business. I also regularly create and use system restore points, but these are not always reliable, whereas a clone always is.

Couple questions:

1. How loud is the fan on this, is it always on?
2. This serves as a dock too? If both nvme slots are populated, does it show them as 2 separate drives?

but why wouldn't you just use a $15 dollar USB > M.2 adapter, clone your drive through that, then put into your laptop? I don't see the purpose of this device.

Because not everyone has a desktop, not too mention a decent mb would probably cost about as much as this thing. And not all laptops/devices have 2+ slots. What a silly thing to say. Also, offline cloning is very useful or high volume cloning.

There are NVME to USB adapters that are cheap.. But hey, it's your money.. do as you want.
Not trying to hurt your feelings, but this is the second really bad alternative you've suggested, so it's becoming obvious you're in the wrong thread and/or way out of your element. Please stop making suggestions for something you don't understand.

Yes, there are NVMe adapters that work well and I have some. If you're simply looking for a single enclosure, these adapters are great, but they don't do anything like this device does.

If you don't want to pay attention, you're really gonna have to stop commenting with absurd alternatives.

1. The fan is not very quiet. I have it sitting next to me when I'm using it and it's not bad, but I definitely notice it.
2. Yes, this serves as a dock and shows them as two separate drives when plugged in, but can also work with just one.

The other thing to point out is that it needs to be powered with a wall adapter, so I don't think I'd want leave this running all day. That being said, I did do that overnight once (by accident) and was surprised to see the SSDs weren't warm at all in the morning.
