I think camo app for ios and android works really well. Just connect via usb or wifi. Another good option is droid cam. I been using an old i phone for 2 years and the image is much better than a lot of $150 webcams. There is some troubleshooting involved in the beginning but you'll soon get the hang of it. Such as selecting video source etc.
I do NOT need my colleagues to see me in that high resolution.

Anyone have a recommendation on how to use an old phone as a webcam. I have plenty of old phones and mounts I can use instead of spending more money for this

This is the older model, PW513. There newer one is PW515. Mild differences between the two, I forget exactly what. I think it runs hotter and other trivial things like that. EposVox had a good review of the two that called it all out.

Look up Newtek NDI. You can use it as a webcam and broadcast the feed over your network or the web... Super low latency. Very amazing free tech.

You could use the app Iriun Webcam, install it in your android and your PC and via USB or WiFi it works. If you use it via WiFi, ensure your PC and Phone are connected to the same network.
