You can not have more than 1 Sapphire card at the same time, and you can not get a new Sapphire signup bonus if you received one on any Sapphire card in the last 48 months.
For anyone debating on whether to go for this, know that the all time high is 100k bonus points, making this a very lucrative opportunity.
You can- I've seen YMMV reports about how many days you need to wait between cancelling and new application though.
Also things to keep in mind:
Use any credits you might have on existing card you haven't used yet.
Insure you move your UR points to a different card before closing old one.

does anyone know whether i can just walk in into the branch to apply the credit card without scheduling appointment? I check the earliest date for appointment is next monday and I am afraid the deal maybe gone.
I just did this. Of course it depends on how busy they are but they were very accommodating in my case. In and out in 10 min
Branch Banker called and I went back in - I was able to get approved but I think the banker ended up creating a new profile for me - sounds like that is what your banker did. No matter - just happy I'll get the 90k bonus bonus points offer now.
same thing happened to me. the offer didn't show up, so the guy called a number and confirmed it was over 48 months since my last bonus. Apparently they could verify using my ssn. he created a new profile for me also.

Does plain old vanilla sapphire ie NOT Reserve/Preferred count for this? Do I need to cancel that one too? Have a few points there I don't want to lose

Yes, any Sapphire product counts. Best to product change to Freedom (points will transfer).
I view this offer is only 80k, not really 90k points.
The last 10k points need $6000 spending, which is only 1.67 points/ cents. Not really attractive comparing to flat 2% Cashback cards.
Is there any way to waive the annual fee?
Huh? Earning $900 by spending $6000 is effectively 15% cashback. Plus you get the standard cashback on the $6000 which is at least an additional $60 at minimum.

48 months start from last time the card was cancelled or from the day the card was approved? Thanks.

Neither.
48 months from the last time you received a Sapphire bonus. Which for most people will be within 1-3 months of opening the card-- then 48 months after THAT you're eligible for a new bonus.

How does one go about playing their cards right? I'm hoping to snag a business class trip to Asia later this year.
Transfers to airline partners.... I recently booked a $7000 roundtrip in ANA biz to Japan for 85,000 miles plus $743 cash.... which is insanely good value at almost 7.5 cents per point in value... that said those were Amex points and you can't directly transfer chase to ANA, but there's other routes nearly as good to book ANA with UR... Virgin Atlantic for example lets you book ANA Biz from US to Japan for 90-95k points (and yes that's roundtrip)... which (assuming taxes are similar to my booking) still nets you 6.6-7 cents a point in value.

That is not correct on several levels.
For one, you also get points on the spend, which is anywhere from 2000 to 10,000 more points depending on the category of spend.
For another, you only need to spend another -2000- not 6000 (it's 6k TOTAL which includes the original 4k).
So even at the hyper-low straight cash value, and assuming you only got 1x on those points, 12k points for 2k spend... or 6% cash back on the extra $2000 spend... potentially up to 12% if you max the x on the spend category.
On top of that it's actually 7.5%-15% cash back if used in the travel portal... and potentially MUCH higher than that used for transfers to partners.
that's 5% cash back. But that's STILL not quite right.

$6000 total ($4000 (80K) + $2000 (10K)), not an additional $6000.
No.
