I was thinking of going each month into one of these and buying a $10 GC go bank up and then have a big dinner once a year

Slickdeals doesn't want anybody to lose to get the referral. They want all the referral credits to themselves. For that reason you see a lot of crappy subpar card deals in Slickdeals posted as paid advertisement
Depends on what do you want to do Thoth your card. If you want to use for travel , then Chase is better. Amex Gold is great for general use and specially for grocery as it gives 4x points. Chase have better travel partner to transfer points. I have Chase Sapphire, Capital One Venture X and Amex Platinum. Use my points to travel business class and first class

Amex has one per lifetime for the same card class. If you had an Amex gold card in the past then you are SOL. But that doesn't apply to business card. You can have the same class personal card and business card and get the bonus

It works for shake shack and cheesecake factory giftcards. For shake shack, you need to pay at a register with a cashier since they don't sell gift cards on the kiosks or through the app. Got the statement credit a few days later
AMEX's lifetime restriction does not apply when they target you for the promo (in-app / via mail etc). I had Plat few years ago and downgraded, they spammed with pre-approvals recently.
