It feels great, fits perfectly, and the magnet is really strong, but mine lasted exactly one year before the silicone started chipping and peeling away en mass.
I handle my phone carefully, so it likely won't survive that long with moderate to heavy usage. The $50 retail price is absolutely insane in that regard - you're really paying for the branding, not the quality.
As for protection, it works as well as any off-brand hard shell silicone case would: You trade a little safety for a thinner, sleeker product. It's no Otterbox, but it's a lot more comfortable to carry around in your pocket than other more rigid cases.
I'd probably jump on this deal if I hadn't just bought a knock-off replica for about the same price, in hopes that it lasts longer than the genuine product.

Looks like the thread from two days ago for the leather and silicon versions is mark expired - for some silly reason - because the leather version was sold out. That other thread should still be active.

I think I spent $20 on the Apple OEM Magsafe case about 2 years ago, and it's coming apart (peeling) in 3 of the 4 corners now. Not the highest of quality plastic/silicone but does keep phone fairly safe. In for another 1 thanks OP.
I got this one for about $2 from Amazon Ware house 1.5yrs ago and it's still going strong after a few drops on hard floor and lots of abuse like taking to the beach and into the water, even at $7 it's worth it.

Yup I agree. Had it and it started chipping away. I got a used leather one and won't go to apple silicone. Apple silicone feels great and slides in pocket nicely, but just wont last. An otter box is better but when I checked for MagSafe I couldn't find what I wanted, so the apple leather lightly used one is what I went for.
