For folks asking about the 12 months of service part, all of that is answered in the original thread: https://slickdeals.net/f/16487416-mint-mobile-128gb-google-pixel-7-unlocked-smartphone-12-month-4gb-plan-289-recovery-fee-port-in-required-free-s-h?page=76#commentsHeader

tldr: Needs to be a ported in number. GV works (create a new gmail account, pay google $3 to port out). People who dont care about the 12 months mint service can just discard the activation kit and treat this as a $289 unlocked phone.

Oh - I see it as a non-factor. Most are getting the deal (seemingly) for the good price on the phone. I don't even want the plan shipped with it, was able to flip it for $50 bucks.

Yeah, I can't get past the Pixel part. If they wanted numbers, they'd take a loss on an iPhone or maybe Samsung. Doing it for a Pixel is pointless.
They can offer a pixel very cheap. They've done iphone deals in the past too but not this cheap. Judging by these threads, it has been a very popular deal so it is accomplishing what they wanted.

The integrated dual apps (cloning) feature allows you to have multiple Instagram/Facebook/WhatsApp/Messenger/etc apps on your phone; all with different accounts and separate contacts, without creating a work profile. Even the $50 Samsung A03s has this.

As far as I know, you can't just use a type-c to HDMI to mirror on newer Pixels. I think my brother tried it.

Smart View/DeX mirroring is far superior to the Pixel's Chromecast mirroring capabilities. As I said though, I just need my phone for calling and texting, but some people might expect things like that to work out of the box; not with this phone.
I know I've seen multiple profile option in my 4A 5G specifically for that purpose, but never tried it. I do have work profile but that is totally different.

Mostly agree. I think the reason the deal is so popular is because nobody anywhere can find a flagship phone near this price. If anything, I don't think it's Mint pumping numbers, but Google.

Probably a bit of both, other carriers are offering deals on the 7 but nowhere near this, and even Google is selling it direct for a lot more. So Mint probably got a good deal from google (or maybe from their own partner, Quality 1), then are taking a bit of loss on top of that.

It is kind of a match made in heaven. Google is struggling vs Apple/Samsung, Mint is trying to get bought.

Because the apple sheep will pay whatever apple asks.

Iphone deals are pretty much completely done by carriers to attract new customers, they take a hit or break even and make you commit to 24 months etc.

Everyone buys iPhones. They don't need to run a discount. People will pay. They run this game.

Many apps I use support multiple accounts.

Am I crazy or do the "integrated dual apps" sound a lot like something dudes use when they're cheating?
Many apps support multiple accounts, but you have to switch to the current account in order to use it, or you could clone the same app and use it side by side with different settings, contacts, etc; have two apps in split-screen at the same time. You can't do that with multiple accounts in one app.

Dudes could use it to cheat if they want, or they could simply keep their friends and co-workers separate from their family members.

Android has the sandbox feature built in, Google UI only uses it for work apps, Samsung apparently has used it for that side by side feature. Guess if that feature is important to you, have to stick with Samsung.

Each android manufacturer tries to add their own differentiators to get you to buy theirs over the other guys. Pixel seems to be focused on the camera as their differentiator. And "first to receive updates" but that actually isn't necessarily a good thing.

Pixel does let you create multiple logins/profiles but you can only use one at a time so not really the same thing.

Just can't imagine why I'd want to have two different accounts on a single app up at the same time on a single screen. I understand that's something the phone I just bought can't do, and I'd prefer if it could, I just don't know when I'd ever want to do that.

That's pretty much what I've been saying. It's a good phone for the price, but it is lacking in some aspects; depending on who you are. Some might love it.

If you don't use those features, don't worry about it; it's not important. I've sold hot items on Marketplace/Messenger just by naming the Ads differently, changing the pictures, colors, writing a different description, etc. Chatting side by side rejecting/accepting offers, stuff people wouldn't care about Lol.

that's what I thought too. But Verizon CS kept insisting phones must have CDMA otherwise it won't work.
Yep, a lot of people had the CDMA vs GSM thing repeated to them for over a decade so it's hard to forget that effectively neither exist in the US anymore. The one Visible carrier branded phone - Visible Midnight - doesn't even have 2G or 3G radios. It runs LTE only on the Verizon network.

You can buy chunks of data if you go over occasionally. If you want to upgrade the rest of the 12 months you will pay the difference between the 4GB plan and whatever you upgrade to. If you expect to go over 4G every month just buy a larger plan from the start, less hassle and less risk of them saying you can't upgrade the free months etc.
I ordered the 4GB plan, but I don't think 4GB will be enough. Will it be too much grief to order the 10GB plan and just pay the difference during the activation process?
