I have two of these. They're great and the family likes them too. Just can't seem to get the autolock feature to enable.

Batteries last forever because it's not connecting to unnecessary wifi/bluetooth connections. Has the smart key ability to rekey to other physical keys.
Lol got kwikset 909's at several of my properties---some are nearly 5 years old and I've had to change the batteries.... Once. Bluetooth, fingerprint, wifi are all gimmicks. This at least allows you to rekey it to another "KW" key so you don't have to have another key to carry around
Couldn't disagree more. We've had our five button Kwikset for 10 years on the entry door between our garage and house, which sees daily use. Absolutely zero wear on the numbers and it hasn't failed us once during this length of time.

Is this compatible with Vivint?

Edit: never mind, just saw that it isn't.

Has anyone installed this on a security screen door? I'm not sure how the electronics would hold up as it's meant to be indoors

I just purchased this at regular price . There ok . It keeps deprogramming itself. Maybe I got a defective one .

I picked up one at this price a month or two ago. Really easy to install. Nice quality for the price. Appreciate that it's not a connected device. Much better battery life and no external dependencies or exposure.

This is an excellent deal but I definitely wouldn't buy it. There's no fingerprint unlock nor bluetooth w/ Certificate Authentication nor does it have an IC fob and after having all that, I cannot go back.
It's also easier to guess the correct code as the numbers get worn since it really only has 5 buttons. This is more for "ease of use" so you don't need to have a key on you to unlock the door, so people shouldn't expect it's more secure just because it doesn't have a WiFi/Bluetooth connection to exploit.

If installed somewhere that sees daily use, I'd expect to replace it about every 2 years as the buttons will stop making connection to the circuit board, rendering the keyless function inoperable.

I'm not dissing the product itself; in fact, I love the SmartKey function and I think this is a good deal.

I'm just saying that if people think that a 5-button code is significantly more secure than any other gimmick keyless entry method, that's not really the case, especially as the lettering wears down. And I mention the buttons getting worn out around the 2-year mark because I have family members that have gone through 4 similar locks (maybe not the 909) and each one started to be difficult to operate after that time because they were in heavily used doors.

I got one from Home Depot, didn't work out of the box. I figured out how to put it into maintenance mode, but not even Kwikset could walk me through factory resetting it. As someone who's worked with lots of weird hardware it "felt like" an alternative firmware with a different default code or something. They sent a replacement - took them forever, I installed a different brand before it got here. My dad took the replacement home, not sure if he's actually done anything with it or not.

Grade 3 for $50 is garbage. At best it's worth $20.
