The S20 Ultra suffered from focusing & camera lag issues. these were significantly improved, but not 100% fixed, via software updates. They just got One UI 5.1 atop Android 13 which will be their last significant software update. They will get security updates for at least one more year. I have used a couple of older Samsung devices with OneUI 5.0 and 5.1 and they are quite smooth so these devices should be going out in good shape software-wise.

Also worth noting is that the S20 Ultra has a massive 5k mAh battery which is the same as the S22 & S23 Ultra. The S20 Ultra has a 6.9" screen which is the largest ever on a Samsung device alongside the Note 20 Ultra. The S20+ has a 6.7" screen which is a smidge larger than the current S23/S22+.

These are the final Galaxy S models to support microSD expansion and the first to support 45W Wired charging. Also the final Galaxy S models to support Samsung Pay MST (the Note 20 Ultra being the final one to support those features). Finally, although the hardware supports it, there were some behind the scenes shenanigans and these devices never received 5G midband support on any carrier. Apple's iPhone 12 has the same 5G qualcomm chipset and got updated to support those frequencies in addition to mmwave and low-band. So you won't see "UWB" very much on these devices, if ever. I had a Note 20 for 18 months so I know. When I upgraded from a Note 20 Ultra to the S22 Ultra I got mid-band support and a significantly improved 5G experience.

I would have no issues buying one of these for a 1 year "rental" or as a wi-fi based device to fiddle with or as a kids' phone. Compared to, say, a comparably priced Moto G budget handset, these will run circles around it in camera & SoC performance and especially screen quality. You'll also get wireless charging and significantly faster wired charging IF you use a proper PPS PD charger.

Cmon...Apple has amazing marketing. They convince all the soy boys to spend 1200.00 for a new inferior phone every 2 years.
Not marketing. Has nothing to do with inferior phone. It's about wealth. People on social media, especially instagram and facebook don't want their family and relatives and friends to see them holding Android, thinking they are poor.

Where's the link to this $145 phone plz?
It's on the google store.
You have to trade in a phone.I traded in a 2.5 year old S20 for $365 which verizon gave to me for free.
Pixel 7 $449 + tax = $477.06 - $365 = $112... In 2 years I'll trade this pixel 7 in for $300-$400 and receive another new high end phone for $100-$200.. IDK why anyone would waste $$ on an old used phone other then to trade it in.

S23 ultra is objectively a superior phone to the iphone 14 pro max in every measurable way except video capabilities. I'm sure there are plenty of people, your dumb relatives excluded, that see an s23 ultra and understand it's a status symbol AND an incredible piece of technology. We're not even mentioning foldables which illicit much more interest and in a lot of cases, envy, than the latest iphones (which you can barely tell apart aside from 'new' colors apple releases halfway through the phone's life cycle because they know they've fallen behind).

You gonna say an apple foldable would destroy all Samsung or Chinese foldables when it launches and that they don't matter right now? 😂

The camera focus issue was a problem in it's first year, but I think it vastly improved with updates. Anyone using it with android 13 and can comment with RECENT experience?
Quote from WildflowerGuru :
The S21 also suffers from focusing issues. I've had so many random blurs on shots of items which should easily have been in focus. Well lit and still. Even some type of font text on equipment will show up blury no matter how many different ways I take the photo; angle, lighting, distance. Sent Samsung numerous tech support requests with documentation. I went on forums to see similar issues relating to my experience. Lots of photos taken daily. Seems like 1 out of 7 end up blurred, but often just random. No fixes...

Are we talking ultra to ultra here? I don't recall my 21 ultra having that problem and I know my 21 plus doesn't...
For people with camera focusing/blurring issue, use the Camera Assistant app [samsung.com] to disable auto lens switching. Focusing/blurring issue may occur when it auto switches camera/sensor in certain situations (macro, focusing distance too short for existing camera/sensor, low light, etc.); for instance, when it switches to the main camera/sensor and uses digital zoom, auto crop, extrapolate, etc. to make your subject look larger. For optimal results and take full advantage of the camera/sensor native/optical features, use the Pro mode and avoid any digital zoom, crop, auto lens switching, etc.

None of that matters. Scroll up a couple of posts and read what I wrote to Gdog2004. The problem remains the same. People around the world not just in US, consider the iPhone a luxurious item and Android is for poor people. If you travel to other destinations outside of the US then you'll see it even more blatantly, in your face, how they treat someone holding an iPhone vs someone holding an Android phone.

But you chose the wrong phone. The fingerprint scanner on the S20 at least worked which the Pixel 7 doesn't. Also the Pixel 7 doesn't have a micro SD card slot which the S20 had. Not sure if you gained anything buy buying a newer phone. And that Tensor chip vs Snapdragon, SD will also have better network performance.

From an individual where you don't have any sort of protection if you get a faulty phone? At least you can return it with Woot.
