But I'm not sure you meant to lump every Intel 12th Gen chip together considering you only put a $40 price range on the whole category.
Also add another 200 for a MB of equivalent quality. Intel motherboards are way more expensive.
The bottom line is that 12th gen is extremely good value for money at these prices. 13th gen isn't 50% better. AM4 is good too, but it's "end of the line" 🤯
Then why are you and Congress banning TikTok?
This is incorrect. 13th gen is EOL for that socket LGA1700 so you're not upgrading beyond a 13th gen unless you get a new motherboard.

Something like a 13400F (i5) actually performs pretty much identical to a 13600k or 13700k in games.... so if your primary purpose is to game then it makes sense to save some money and pair a mid-budget CPU with a 4090.
You would go up to the i7/i9 if you needed the extra multitasking power

It normally takes at least 2 cpu gens for the old socket parts to crater in price... been that way for the loooongest time. Gpu is a whole nuther shit show with the greed.
SSD and RAM markets won't bottom out until maybe late 2023, or early 2024

CPU prices aren't going up anytime soon, and AMD may add to the pressure soon

If you can wait, wait for motherboards to come out with Wi-Fi 7 which has game-changing speed, especially if you don't like wired Ethernet. Those motherboards aren't coming out until late 2023 or even 2024.
If you can re-use your old GPU in your new rig and wait till 2024, GPU prices should keep falling and probably the best time to buy will be when Intel launches Battlemage. Even if you don't get an Intel GPU, you'll benefit from their competitive pressure. Right now Nvidia and AMD are milking GPU customers by selling old tech at high prices, with no high-end Intel GPU to force prices lower.

I did get a 4090 as I don't see that price dropping any time soon. Free game offer of Redfall is a nice bonus.
Battlemage looks good but will have no effect on the 4090 price imo.
