I use if for games and programs. One game I use it for chat scripts mostly. Once you set it to a specific game once that game launches it will switch to that interface. If you Alt tab out to a different program you have set it will go to that.
I have icons and pages set to "game a" and shortcuts to browser, chat commands, discord commands etc
Again, there's nothing wrong with a touchscreen, it's just a different interface and (imho) less suitable to a touchtyping+mouse workstation.
Appreciate the in depth response. Makes sense for productivity.
Edit: You can. Neat!

What kind of shortcuts and commands do you use? I have the XL and don't use it as much as I want to, so I need some creative ideas.

That being said, I have the Gen1 for $99 and am very happy with my purchase. You're mostly paying for the SOFTWARE experience. Tons of plugins that integrate with different software. For example Microsoft has a first party plugin for Teams that lets you control a bunch of things (including mute/unmute in calls, without the Teams window needing focus). Also, the per-application volume control they recently added is fantastic.
The LCD screens on the keys may seem gimmicky, and in a way it is, but it does allow multiple pages of icons that you can switch between, that while you can do blindly on other macro-key offerings, being able to see which page and what they do is a real winner. The only thing that could be better is twist-dials, but I'm not paying $200, and they also added a touch-strip which is icky (I am buying this because it offers haptics, so adding a gotcha zone is the opposite of my needs; see Logitech Remote Controls for an example).
- Detachable USB cable (at the rear of the Stream Deck).
There's also a redesign on the stand, but you could argue either way which is superior. The electronics/buttons are identical.

The detachable cord is nice if only I hadn't gotten it sub 6 months ago! TY

I've only scratched the surface of what I can do but I have a Spotify profile that will add/remove songs from various playlists and control where in the house my music will play. I've started scripting some simple macros for games I play to automate the tedious in-game tasks or to execute a sick combo with a press of a button. I've got a profile for Lightroom/Photoshop shortcuts that I use often and for workflow macros. Lots of potential for sure!
