Best Buy has the Red Pro 14TB for $209. 7200RPM + 5 Yr warranty.
Better deal than the $200 Easystore external at Best Buy today.

Yeah it's $5 more, but you don't have to shuck it and do the pin mod.
dang, it looks like its sold out at bestbuy.

looks like the current findings for 14tb is:
$200 - easy store - 2yr warranty
$205 - red plus - 3yr warranty
$210 - red pro - 5yr warranty.

If other sellers will do the red plus for 210, thats the best deal. The extra 3yr warranty is well worth the extra $10

Pro = Louder
All of the discussions I saw about the Pro being louder were comparing it with 5400 RPM Reds, but both of these drives are 7200. Can anyone confirm that the Pro 7200 is actually louder than the Plus 7200?

I've been fortunate enough not to need the pin mod. Who has to do that?

The 14TB Pro looks to be Out of Stock at Best Buy already. Sad I slept on that. Thanks anyway!

Get a better case if the noise bothers you

i had an nzxt h510, with a wd black in there. Was obnoxiously noisy. I switched to a fractal torrent and cant hear a thing.

I've got a mix of WD Golds, Red Pro's, Whites, and Seagate X18's in my media server in a fractal define 7....cant hear any of the drives when they spin up.
A lot of people use these in a NAS or DAS. They are not known for keeping the noise in check, you will hear HDDs chunking along.

All spinning drives will make sounds.
In my experience, red pro's arent any more noisy over golds/whites/seagates.

Awesome, missed these back on BF as I only got 1 before the sale ended.

I tried the 18TB Pro's, but they have an incredibly annoying high-pitched noise I couldn't stand even in my fractal case. The 14TB has been whisper quiet and so far no issues.

Bonus is since these aren't a bundle deal, I was able to use my 15% recycle coupon on them to knock them down to $177 each ($12.69/TB)

Thank you!

that alone is worth the extra $5

In my opinion hard drive warranties are worthless. If it stops working you've already lost your data (if you didn't back up) and they'll just send you a refurb.

If somebody chooses to not back up, then their data wasn't worth preserving in the first place, so it's no big deal if it's lost.

So I would use this as NAS and I have an 8tb for over 3 years no problem. You are saying I am SOL if it fails one day no way to recover? Are you saying I should backup my backups???

Same, but they are considerably more noise than Red Plus. Red Plus is known for being quiet.

$470 retail price is a fake price when the manufacturer (western digital) website retail price is $255.99!!!

There is a pin that needs to disabled so power is correctly supplied to the drive when you shuck it. Depends on the PC or NAS that you shuck to.
