Looks like Amazon is finally price matching the Newegg deal posted yesterday.

https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/822716

I bought the one from Newegg yesterday.

I use several of these for a small business that I managed that has a couple of different branch areas. I run a couple access points and some cameras. this is the low end POE switch So if you plan on running several high power devices, recommend you get the higher power (123W for $79 vs this 62W) switch. beyond that, these are absolutely awesome switches. fully manageable with VLAN separation, you can independently power cycle devices using the web GUI. at less than $40 for a fully manageable POE switch, you can't go wrong!

I just hope we start to see these kind of price drops on the larger port capacity switches, I really need a 24 port with similar capability.

Are you referring to a publicly traded (and Chinese controlled) company with multi-billion dollar revenues as "the little guys"?

To manage the switch you go to its IP address with a web browser and login with your password you created on setup and then you can configure the switch. If you create multiple VLANs but you don't create an explicit firewall rule stopping those additional VLANs from getting to the VLAN that your switch sits on (your management VLAN) the web access could be used. You really wouldn't want that if you had a true guest VLAN where people you don't know are on the network. Honestly, if you're going to set up VLANs for security like a guest VLAN and you don't create an explicit firewall rule banning all traffic from that VLAN to any other VLAN on your local network, you reap what you sow. Enterprise grade switches offer a dedicated management VLAN. This is a switch that's capable of doing VLAN separation for $40. If you're buying this for home or for a small business where you have a firewall and can create the aforementioned rules, it's not an issue. But it is worth bringing up, like he did.

The statement is true for many consumer grade network devices.

Look at the camera specs sheet and see how many watts per camera. Times that by 5 and if it's more than 62, then you want to get the other one, the 123 watt for $79. what camera make and model are you using?

Great deal even without any management features. I have a similar spec tp link model that just burned out in less than a year, this will be a nice replacement. TU

As someone mentioned in the other thread, Amazon is charging sales tax on the full price (for me as well, at least) but it's still a good deal so I'm grabbing one.

Just a heads up for anyone planing on using the smart functionality (e.g. VLANs), this switch has the stupid issue of the management interface being exposed everywhere.
