This one is 35 new on ebay. If you want to buy cheaper look for Open Box or lightly used ones. There's a bunch of reputable sellers with 100+ sales records you can choose from. I got an open box one and have had zero probs. Just use Paypal in case.

For those who are wondering if there's third party stylus for the ipad now? The answer is now yes! I just got my mother a third party one on amazon the other day for like $14 and it works great and it doesn't require her to plug it in using adapters or any weird stuff, just usb-c. It's perfect. Just go search ipad stylus on amazon and you'll find tons of results.

And you won't have to stress over having to leave the Apple Pencil dormant for too long, as this happened to my mother and her Apple Pencil's battery permanently died for leaving it uncharged for a couple months. WILD.

The Pencil 2 is the star of the show here. It's magnetic and charges wirelessly on the side of the iPad (the Apple case even has a compartment for it).

3rd party Pencils work at a basic level. The Pencil 2 is pressure sensitive however, and the tip is designed to give resistance so it feels more like writing on paper.

So, yeah, 3rd party versions are out there, but you get what you pay for.

Bought one of these on amazon yesterday, but a little worried it might be a fake. Anyone know how to double check if it is legit? All the features seem to be working as expected, but when I enter the serial number on their website it says they don't have a valid sale date.

$90 is a good price for a BT stylus? No thanks Apple. Bought an aftermarket one for $23 and cant tell any difference. Industry leading latency, HA! it's BT tech that every other company uses. Good thing everyone waited for the absurd price to come down to just way over priced, I guess.
