Google honored the 1 year warranty however, and they sent out a replacement phone. I returned my defective 6a to Google...all should have been well.....except
Xfinity won't let me replace the defective 6a with my replacement 6a and keep the device payment plan going. They said (on the phone and different rep via chat) that if I swap in the replacement 6a I will LOSE my remaining device payment plan credits.
Since the defective 6a is gone, my options are to simply let that line ride out the remaining 14 payment plan credits (for 14 more months) and effectively lose access to that phone number (cannot move the phone number or I will also lose the remaining device payment plan credits).
Or, I can simply swap the SIM and be sure NEVER to confirm with Xfinity that I swapped the SIM into the replacement device (they have an online notice that they have detected I swapped devices and to confirm it). Then hope that all is well for the next 14 months...there is no guarantee.
According to the Xfinity CSR's there is no provision to retain your remaining device payment plan credits should you lose or break your phone during the pendency of the payment credits, even though the line remains active with the number you ported in. If you change the device, and you let them know, you lose the payment plan credits.

I took a new Xfinity line(1st line by the gig, porting from Google voice) on May 4th with an iPhone SE free for $15 a month. I haven't activated it yet. I saw this pixel 7 for free on may 9th and I added a new line(used same phone number that I gave for 1st line since I didn't activate the previous number yet) and thought I ordered this as replacement for the previous phone thinking I'd return iPhone SE(even got a return authorization). However after looking at this comment, I think I don't really need to return the iPhone SE but just use a new number on the new 2nd line to activate Google pixel. Is this understanding correct?
Basically I paid tax on iPhone SE and $15+tax for first line and I paid tax for Pixel 7 but my monthly for second line will only be $2.xx for 24 months and I get both phone for almost free(excluding tax and small monthly fee)? Ofcourse I have to stay in contract for 24 months. Since I have xfinity internet, I get another $20 discount(main reason why I took new line) because I added xfinity mobile.
Please clarify if my understanding is right and I don't need to return the iPhone SE and don't end up paying $30 + tax for both by the gig lines. I don't really need new phones, took it merely to get discount on xfinity internet.
Check your reward tab on internet account to see if you have $100 or $150 for each new device purchase.
Question for you, have you already got $20 off for internet?
( I have been with Xfinity mobile since 2019).
nightmare, tried going to customer service so many times, I likely just need to cancel my service and switch.

I'm currently having an issue with unlocking a phone that is paid off with them. 4 weeks, 17 calls, 2 visits to the local store, and 35 hours dealing with this issue I'm still SOL. The manager in store even had the audacity to say that since the unlock code they had doesn't work it must mean that the phone is broken and I have to go to Motorola to request service. I told them that the phone works 100% fine and the only issue is their inability to get it unlocked. I told them that they need to do better. He basically told me to F off. So yeah, Xfinity sucks.
This deal is basically Xfinity's way of locking you into their crappy service. That being said, it's the cheapest way to get multiple lines of basic service. I'm paying $20/month for 5 lines. Being a Slickdealer I'm a sucker for a "good" deal even though I have been screwed by Xfinity multiple times before (read glutton for pain).
As for swapping phones you should be able to swap the SIM card into a different phone. As long as you keep that line active they've continued to give the monthly credits. I've done it on several lines for the past 3 years and haven't had issues. However since it's Xfinity, you never really know.

For the people complaining, there's now a $250 off Pixel 6a deal...so $200 total for both new line and upgrade. So if you have the Xfinity Reward for buying a new phone (up to $150 Visa GC)...that would bring it down to low as $50 (free with new line + CB)...with no bill credits, no contract, and solves the unlock problem.
Yet another new deal:
Free Unlimited Mobile Line ($45 Value): Xfinity residential Fast 400 Mbps Internet and above customers only. Limited to one line of Xfinity Mobile Unlimited Intro for 24 months. Must activate new line within 90 days of Internet order and maintain the line to receive a $45 mobile discount for 24 months. [Looks to drop to $10 or $15 discount if you just get By-the-Gig and depending in which state you are]
It applies to your Internet bill. So that might mean you can get (2) of their lowest tier Unlimited plans for $15. Now if it were to stack on their pre-existing combo deals...lol...
also does the "FREE Unlimited Intro mobile line" apply to existing internet customer?

Second : Any return is possible only if you "cancel" service; and even then, it's more often that you have to "pay off the device"; it isn't "return the device".
I'm surprised the system allowed you to use the same number for both lines; but regardless, you do need to port in 2 new numbers to get the 2 phones. You can pick up GV numbers for $3 or from numberbarn for around $7 to get a number to port in. If I were you - I would reach out to XM customer service (either web / phone or even walk into a store) to confirm the specifics that you are signed up for.
XM does allow you to change what number you are porting in, at the time that you activate (I'd made a mistake once in transposing the digits) - so you do have the option to keep both lines and pay $15 + 2 x taxes and fees for 2 lines.
I am considering getting this deal, signing up for a By-the-Gig plan w/ Xfinity and port in my current number 123 from Mint. Assuming I will keep the By-the-Gig plan for 24 months to get all the bill credits to get the Pixel "free", will I at some point be able to port out the number 123 I ported in without loosing the bill credits?
I am slightly concerned about coverage or any other issues I may encounter w/ Xfinity and if I will be able to port out my number 123 back to Mint penalty-free that would be good.
An alternative would be to get a new number (e.g. from numberbarn) to port in to Xfinity, and/but then if I like the Xfinity service I would like to be able to later port in my current number 123 from Mint to Xfinity (when the Mint plan expires, if not earlier), again without loosing the bill credits.
I am not sure if I followed all the steps and turns, but it seems like you have/had two plans/phones w/ Xfinity - your number 456 was on a Xfinity plan? In my case, I would only have the Mint plan w/ a Moto G Power 2021 phone which I think Xfinity won't allow on their network.
I went through the convoluted process of porting in a new number and swapping it to get a NEW phone on an OLD number that was already on XM.
Note that the XM By the Gig 1GB plan is a low cost option suitable for folks who rarely use data. In my case we WFH; normally keep cell data switched OFF; have downloaded maps; don't stream music or video etc. As such - we need the phones for Wifi based usage + phone talk and text; the XM plan allows my family to be connected at low cost, and since XM provides discounts for "new lines" but not for "upgrades", I go through adding new lines to get phones cheaper and then swap out.
In your case : If you are not sure about XM or need more data - this may not make sense because the phones will be locked to XM for 24 months.
If you do want to try it - I'd recommend you get a number from numberbarn or elsewhere to port in; test it out; and either let it stay idle (low cost) or port out later by paying off the balance; you would get some discount (for the earlier period) but not "free".
Their customer service is garbage.
I'd stay away from the cable company's phone service. It exists purely to "reduce" your bloated cable/internet bill, but their service sucks on the whole. Go to t mobile, heck use mint mobile, avoid Xfinity like the plague.
With this phone contract, Xfinity knows you can't move out, so they don't have to offer a new deal (for broadband) In other words, you will essentially be paying an extra $20-$30 per month for the next renewal of your broadband contract.
Check your reward tab on internet account to see if you have $100 or $150 for each new device purchase.
Question for you, have you already got $20 off for internet?
( I have been with Xfinity mobile since 2019).
About the $20 discount, yes I received the discount already for the internet as I placed the order for 1st line just before the new billing period began.
