As for this "deal"....
The problem I see with this deal is that the 5900x is an interior product to the 7700 (non x) which has a much lower power draw. Perhaps even to the 7600 (which is $100 cheaper)!?! However, both of those 7000 series procs are AM5, so require costlier mobo/ram.
The 5800x3d (AM4) will wipe the floor with the 5900x in gaming though. The x3d is probably a little slower in single threaded applications, but can be had for the same price.
I'm not sure this is much of a deal.

I've thought about just building a new 7900x build.
I suspect you and I are looking at the same benchmarking sites (here's a nice breakdown at Tom's Hardware [tomshardware.com]).
I probably should have simply said: 5800x3d will give you a higher performance (at the same price or less) than this 5900x in most multi-threaded gaming applications, but may not outperform in single-threaded gaming/non-gaming applications.
Since the 5800x3d has been $300 recently, I would call that the slicker of the two deals.
Of course, if you live near a Microcenter and need a full rig, the combo deals they have now on the 7700x and 7900x (might be oos, so YMMV at this point since they have been up for weeks) really put these newegg deals to shame.
