Lows were around $269-$275 historically. Would really take under $250 to spur demand
I'm all over this at $199, somewhat interested at under $250. I've got a system with a good B550 board and a 5600G that I'd like to rebuild/upgrade, I've got all the other parts.

I've got a 3080ti hybrid or 3090 I'd use with the 5900X, for 4K60 gaming on a projector. Not worried about bottlenecking anything, just want a somewhat well rounded system. My main rig already has a 3090KP and 13700K.

I'm willing to wait another year to see lower latency ddr5... if not I'll buy this or 5950 at lower clearance price

Sounds reasonable. I had 4000cl19 2x8gb (cheap Patriot B-Die) in the machine already and got a matching 2x8gb set (exact same PN) for $55 last week, so I'm bought in to that B550 MB.

Wow I like your optimism but I don't know what it will take to get that cheap. Not even the 3900x on the used market is that cheap
Or ryzen 9000 becomes really compelling and I'll make the jump. Ryzen 7000 isn't that much better than this 5900x in this price range, in fact isn't as good as this in this price range, just for one part let alone a whole platform change for me to justify. I would have to see performance at least 50% faster than the 5900x to justify a platform change without spending over 1000$
