$100 too much; check eBay for open box $300 or less. Did this a couple months back and got the same model still sealed in the wrap but the tape had been resealed.
Sorry, you misunderstand what I'm saying (I've now edited my post to make it clearer) Yamaha's $400-500 receiver (tsr-700) tops out at 24 gigabit (bandwidth) on HDMI, this $400 receiver doesn't so will actually meet the HDMI 2.1 standard instead of coming close. Presumably when Yamaha releases a second generation cheap receiver (edit: It's suggested that ALL of Yamaha generation 1 HDMI 2.1 receivers including the rx models have the same bandwidth limitation, NOT just the cheapest one🤷), it will feature full speed but their first generation did not which caused some users (PS5 mostly) issues who needed full speed so it was worth mentioning that THIS cheap receiver offers full speed.

In other words, I'm not talking about all Yamahas. I'm talking specifically about Yamaha's cheap receiver that is in direct competition with this model.

Have this and am quite happy with it even though I'm using it to power somewhat hungry speakers at high volume. Definitely a good option for a 7 speaker system while you wait to purchase a higher /more upgradeable receiver, or for long time "standard use" in a small to mid-sized media room. Does in fact have HDMI 2.1 ports with (up to) 40gbps of bandwidth unlike some other cheap receivers (Yamaha tsr-700 for example). One thing you might like if you listen to older music that doesn't hit the subwoofer as hard as you want to is it features a mode called double bass which as the main suggests, increases the bass response without having to change your pass through or woofer settings.

I was wondering if you hifi folks could help me.

I've had a killer Denon system for decades but I need to upgrade to something that will play 5.1/7.1 streaming and BR. I saw the system posted here and I like it but I'm not sure if it's right for the room.
The room measures at 18' long by 12' wide at 10' high. I'm about 6' away from the screen.
My current amp puts out 100w per channel and its loud enough. I'm wondering two things: 1) Is this posted amp good enough for my space? Or 2) There's a Marantz amp on amazon that I really like (https://www.amazon.com/Marantz-NR...60747b8daf) but it only puts out 50 watts per 7 channels. It's also shorter which I like since most 7.1 amps are bulky and take up too much space.
Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I bought and returned 3 of these. All of them has issues when both hdmis are being used. The hdmi would completely shut off randomly. I've tried 10 different hdmi cables, replacing the source and outputs, and the problem only occurs if both HDMI's are used

Why do you think Yamaha is a cheap receiver, I'd assume Onkyo brand has cheap low quality perception

Here is a reason why home amps/receivers tap out at about 100W/ch. If you want louder, more efficient speakers are better https://jlaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en...%20of%2010.
and if you want to play with numbers https://support.biamp.com/Design_...Calculator

Yamaha makes the best receivers in terms of overall build quality, reliability, and efficiency.

Has Onkyo fixed their heat issues?

Yes! I would prefer the Denon…unfortunately it's not on sale. Do you have a coupon or know of a coupon coming out soon for the Denon?

Yamaha's cheap receiver (the tsr-700 That is in direct competition with this model when equipped with the new/replaced board) doesn't fully meet the HDMI 2.1 standard which is what I'm talking about. And I would say yes as I have not had an overheating issue when using this receiver for hours straight (but I've put a desk fan pointed at my receiver on 24/7 for the last ~25 years as I like things loud so I'm not the best example.)
