Just battery run
Same, even with the stock blade and 4ah battery I have no problems. Everything was square out of the box as well. I plan to upgrade to a diablo blade and I have a pair of 9ah batteries on the way.
It's definitely a battery powered saw. I put a Diablo 60t on it and it makes clean, straight cuts right out of the box. The downside is you absolutely need to let the blade spin up all the way before making the cut. On the DWS780 it's more of a pull the trigger, wait half a second and go. This thing is pull the trigger, wait 2 seconds, and go. I was able to get used it and I haven't had it fail to make any cuts. I tried cutting a piece of 5/4 walnut and it was a very slow cut but it made it through.
I wouldnt worry about the battery, I had 2 4ah that I was proactively swapping off the charger at lunch and I never had to stop cause it died. If you don't have a miter and just need one for occasional DIY, this thing for $200 is amazing. If you are planning on getting it for hobby woodworking or very frequent use, I'd stick with a corded saw.
If you were to spend a penny more, get a corded saw. The worst thing about a miter saw is slow blade speed and battery powered saws suffer from that more than corded. I'm all for battery tools, but a miter saw is one i'd keep corded.
i'll add this...a battery miter is fine for trim and other light projects. Anything larger than a 2x4 would have me thinking twice.
