They talking about committing fraud at Home Depot, I don't recommend, just pay for it
Since when returning an unused product a fraud? It's a legally protected consumer right. if they don't want us to return it, they could have made a combo price and not two separate prices (i believe Lowe's does it for their combo sales).

Home Depot does it for some Ryobi combos. They create a new SKU rather than both being separate items.

Could you return the battery without receipt and get full price of battery back in gift card vs. partial back through deal?
This actually is fraud, and Home Depot says they will give you the lowest advertised price as store credit, which at minimum would be the prorated price you paid but could be lower.
