I'm Hanzelnuts, I was mentioned in the Wiki. You guys are lucky because Spectrum is excepting a lot of older phones as trade in for this promotion. A Note 4 is now worth $35 + $600. That's crazy.

I did this promotion 2 months ago. Traded in my Note 9 for $27 and Iphone 8 plus for $12. Note 9 was the oldest they will take back then and so was the iPhone 8. I had a Note 4 that didn't qualify. I had to buy the IPhone 8 for $90 to do the trade in.

I went in the store and paid in full for S23 Ultra and S23. Contrary to FatGuyPoolShark, I like many people, had to send in our trade-in to Assurant. You'll be lucky if the store accept your trade in. It has to be sent in.

Anyways, I have Spectrum internet. There was a promotion of buy one unlimited line for $29.99 and you'll get one line free. For those that didn't get this promotion in their email, ASK THE REP at the store if you can get that promo. Chances are, they'll say yes.

I was able to unlock my 2 phones within one week. I called and asked if they could unlock them and the agent unlocked them while I was on the phone with her. You might want to say you're traveling and needed them unlock.

Assurance emailed me and says my phones were accepted as trade-ins. But instead of $27 for my Note 9, they only going to pay me $15 reason being it was late. It wasn't late, as they received it within the 30 days required to mail in.

I have a credit of $1227 with Spectrum right now. I'm too busy to call and ask them to credit them back to my credit card. It shouldn't be a problem though.

Feel free to ask any questions if need to.

Anyone upgraded second time successfully?
Before my upgrade I saw upgrade option online, after upgrade I don't see. Does it mean can we upgrade only once?
I did, several times. They may have fixed it. I did it in store, paid in full with trade in. My account always showed eligible for upgrade.

Each time you traded in on the one existing line, did your account show the last new phone you purchased or a generic phone? Were you trading in previously purchased Spectrum Samsung phones in order to upgrade to larger Samsung phone, or a low cost phone?

what's the reason?
So I have one phone that activated a few days ago. They kept saying 60 days and I already paid it off in full.

I called again today and they said about it needs to be activated for 60 days. However their system shows that one of the phones is not activated when it is. so idk wtf is going on

Did you open spectrum internet service at the same time a few days ago or did you already have spectrum internet service for months?

The official policy is 60 days activated service for unlocking. But I only had mobile service for 1 day before they unlocked my phones for me, but I also had spectrum's other services for years now.

I've been with spectrum for years. There is one thing to mention, I did get some TV upgrade for free and reduced my internet bill down. You think this is the cause? All the reps I talked to kept saying 60 days. Lmk your thoughts

Did anyone have an issue using the SIM on different unlocked phone?
I tried to use the SIM on different unlocked phone, but it did not work.
Do I need to change any configuration, or call spectrum to get it work?

Thanks in advance.

Dunno, but since you are dealing with people, some will care about the official policy and some won't. You should try the vacationing excuse both through chat and phone call. Chat didn't work for me, they just told me to call in, so chat is ymmv.

Spectrum is a MVNO of Verizon, so they follow Verizon's policy of tying the SIM to the IMEI of the assigned phone. Therefore, hotswapping SIMs is strongly discouraged. Verizon could disable the sim altogether.

If you want to use your Spectrum SIM in a different phone, that new phone's IMEI must be assigned to the Spectrum SIM. You can do this either by calling in to Spectrum, or do it online yourself using the BYOD and selecting the Keep Your Sim option. Note: Changing your device to a BYOD device will remove your Upgrade Available option from that line, so get your upgrades in before swapping devices. (No longer true)

Sorry, it's the generic spectrum mobile service number. Try chat. Also, try changing the way you ask (social engineering). For example:

Hi, I'm traveling to Cuba next week, what are the roaming rates for my cell phone?
Answer: $1.46 per minute, $1.19 per mb [spectrum.com]

Oh wow, that's really expensive. Buck fifty per minute, plus another buck for each megabyte. Hm, that's really expensive. Do you mind unlocking my phone then, because that's really too expensive.

Hopefully the rep has realized that's the pricing is crazy, so they will unlock for you. If they hesitate with the 60 days requirement, fire back with:
Hm, I hear you. But you can check my account to see I've been with you guys for __X__ years, so I'm not going anywhere. Could you make this exception for me?

Good luck, and obviously make these words yours and talk naturally.

Did you pay off your new phone? I called to pay off my phone (initially bought in store on installment by mistake) and once I gave authorization to pay both off, I asked to have them unlocked stating that they are now paid. Rep did it no problem.

Also, I've been a mobile customer for years, so maybe that had something to do with it?
