I did this promotion 2 months ago. Traded in my Note 9 for $27 and Iphone 8 plus for $12. Note 9 was the oldest they will take back then and so was the iPhone 8. I had a Note 4 that didn't qualify. I had to buy the IPhone 8 for $90 to do the trade in.
I went in the store and paid in full for S23 Ultra and S23. Contrary to FatGuyPoolShark, I like many people, had to send in our trade-in to Assurant. You'll be lucky if the store accept your trade in. It has to be sent in.
Anyways, I have Spectrum internet. There was a promotion of buy one unlimited line for $29.99 and you'll get one line free. For those that didn't get this promotion in their email, ASK THE REP at the store if you can get that promo. Chances are, they'll say yes.
I was able to unlock my 2 phones within one week. I called and asked if they could unlock them and the agent unlocked them while I was on the phone with her. You might want to say you're traveling and needed them unlock.
Assurance emailed me and says my phones were accepted as trade-ins. But instead of $27 for my Note 9, they only going to pay me $15 reason being it was late. It wasn't late, as they received it within the 30 days required to mail in.
I have a credit of $1227 with Spectrum right now. I'm too busy to call and ask them to credit them back to my credit card. It shouldn't be a problem though.

I think this is their new policy now.
Also make sure as others have said that the device is fully paid off.
Before they would let me leave the store they stated they had to activate the phone to complete the process.
Question, when I put my tmobile sim card in from my main cell provider, will the boot screen and software reload or will I need to flash the phone first with the image from the initial post to get vanilla Android? And does the phone need to be unlocked first?

It's not that big of an issue. I did it twice monthly plan, went home and paid it off online.
Then I called the next day to have the phone rep refund the trade in amount BACK to the same credit card I paid off with AND did the unlock over the phone. Both phone calls took 5-6 minutes max. I did both trades in ON THE SAME LINE, 5 days apart.
Not sure why people get so hung over such a small deal... Perhaps it gives the store rep more credit for their sales? I dont care as long as I get the cheap/free s23 and dont pay the extra tax amount compared to online trade ins..

Called them and CS unlocked it. Got a system message that it was unlocked. I got another system msg saying phone is locked. I tried swapping Sims to check but the other SIMs dont work
Any help?
