Yes, it has DRAM. It's a great drive if you need a 2.5" SSD.

if you have the open NVME slot go with that instead, smaller, no cables, and faster. Sometime even has the same storage chips (but different controller chips)

Albeit little undersized for the 4TB model. Also, I've seen reports that some ppl have received a QLC version for the 4TB model.

MX500 is TLC.

There were fake MX500 QLCs sold on AliExpress last year, but who in their right mind buys MX500s from there?

Amazon sometimes commingles inventory with less-reputable sellers, so there is a potential for fakes there, too. Best Buy does not, and if you want to be extra sure, buy it with in-store local pickup.

Not 100% sure but if I had to guess it's because that as prices on the memory chips and controllers themselves has cratered, the cost of the "housing" and other sundries that a 2.5" drive has haven't changed. Plus there is much less demand these days for 2.5" so the production runs are way lower than they used to be. Those two things matter I imagine.

I paid $67 at Best Buy for the 1TB model 5-6 months ago; I use it strictly for PC gaming and running apps. I've gamed for hours on specific days, and have never experienced any lag. Almost want to pick up another one but considering mine is still running great, I'll wait until it runs out of storage. Nice deal though.

Show us your proof. The kind of proof we need to see is if you buy it from Crucial.com or Best Buy or something like that, NOT Amazon or Aliexpress.

Try adding a MX500 4TB on Amazon from the Crucial store on Amazon, and then look at the cart. It says "ships from and sold by Amazon.com" on my screen. Does it say something else on yours?

Problem is, even if it says shipped/sold by Amazon, that can mean they pulled from commingled bins. Most MX500 listings on Amazon are by no-name resellers that may get their (fake?) inventory mixed in with Amazon's own inventory.
