What's wrong with sellers? As long as they don't steal our information, it's totally fine, isn't it? I'm kinda curious, but does this one work as expected and is it a reasonable price? I see so many good reviews abt it online thou.

In for 1! I borrowed one from a friend recently. It helped me diagnose my problem. Then a Youtube video showed me how to fix it. I spent about $150 for the part and less than 30 minutes to fix. the fix was easy and I a don't know cars well and am not handy. Shops & dealers were charging close to $1k to fix. These are so handy to have even though you may only use every once in awhile.

I'd stay away from the Ancel brand for scanners. I bought one and only got a few uses out of it before it completely stopped working. Most of their positive reviews are fake on Amazon.

Yes, but that's an Apple product with high quality and strict quality control standards. This is from a no-name Chinese manufacturer and seller with who knows what for quality standards and quality control. Huge difference between the two.

My point is, do not listen to the crap your hear on TV. Pretty much everything you have in your house and you use on a daily basis is made in China. Just like here, you find good quality and bad quality products. I have this and it works better than some OBDII that are worth $100+ I have used.

Shilled junk. 66% of reviews are fake per Fakespot.

"Go to plug it in (05 accord) and nothing. My mil is on, but it says no current codes or pending codes."

"There are a million of them on the road, and your piece of junk product isn't compatible with them. If you are a weekend warrior diy car mechanic there are plenty of scan tools with a fair price that are actually diagnostic tools and will not kill your wallet. I have a 2005 volvo xc90 and it shows there are two codes but when you go through the clunky interface it says i have no codes."

What does this model do that the free use one from Autozone doesn't do? Can it read actual sensor values? Does it have more specific info on codes or just the generic OBD II code library readout?

FYI you may want to check that it supports the protocol of your vehicle. Did not work on one of mine. Only supports 7 vs 10 for the more expensive AD410.

Your Chinese paranoia is off the chart.

Relax, this is just an OBD II reader. It's not going to steal any of your information.

People are being obtuse in not getting Ten80's valid point.

Bottom line: this thing is trash made by a shilling offshore company that idiotic American consumers buy like mythical lemmings following others off a cliff. While the manufacturer, Amazon, and Slickdeals laugh all the way to the bank due to morons believing the fake reviews.

Without looking at the brand and origin, can this $15 OBD II reader do what the other $100 OBD II reader can do?

OBD II is a simple old tech that you don't have to worry about MITM, identity theft, etc. It will only read the code your car is producing. Some reader will cross reference it to a small built in library for definition. Some also have the ability to reset the code. As long as the reader tells you the code, you can always search what that code means on Google. Some car makers defines codes differently.

Not sure why people are making it a big deal it came from China when your iPhone and many other devices on your network (your router) are proudly made in China using child labor.

Did you even bother to read the critical reviews? You might find the answer right there. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I bought an unexpensive Thinkcar scan tool years ago. It was OK, I thought. But the Bluedriver blew it away by finding issues the cheapo didn't. Many cheaply-made $10 offshore scanners from no-name brands can actually kill the car's computer:
