I did the math as well... It comes out to $17.63 with the coupon and the 15% off for S&S meaning it is roughly ~$1.47 a can.
With the coupon and only 5% off for basic S&S, it comes out to ~$1.70 a can.

How does one get 15%? I put in one subscription and got 15%. But when I tried another I only got 5%. I have over 5 items that month.
I have had an issue where I select Subscribe & Save in the cart and it only gives me 5% off even though I have the extra savings (15% off). I noticed it was because it was scheduled for a sooner delivery date. This may not be the case for you, but maybe make sure it is on the same S&S delivery date as all your other S&S items.
