Can be used as an access point (Ethernet as a backhaul) πŸ‘
Ethernet port is only 10/100 πŸ‘Ž

If it had a Gigabit Ethernet port, I would have jumped on this. Without it, I'll pass.
Ofcourse Netgear will tell you ( indirectly or even directly) that their competitor TPLINK product is not reliable. I don't blame them
I have been using one of these for a few years. I don't use it as an extender, but as a bridge to provide a hardwired ethernet connection. It connects to my wifi and gives me ethernet to my burglar alarm panel, which does not support wifi.

Do these get hot? I had a similar one that I had connected to my Lorex cameras and it would get insanely hot.

It is interesting reading all the opinions here. I suspect some people just don't know how to use this kind of device. I have this one and another extender. I use these as access points for my IOT devices. I have over 100 switches, smart plugs and cameras. They are 2.4 GHz and none of them need a high speed connection. As an access point these work great. If you want to use this as an extender, you do have to use take the time to find the appropriate place, which is where I think some people run into problems.

DO NOT BUY THIS unless you know *exactly* how it works and have a very specific use case that takes advantage of that. For most people these "extenders" just make matter worse. They're like glorified repeaters and just make a mess of things.

I work for a company that does 802.11 / Wi-Fi work. Nothing against TP-Link as a company but trust me, stay away from these cheap extenders. They're a borderline scam.

2 biggest problems with extender:

1/ lag, high ping --> bad for anything require quick response: gaming, streaming, cloud security.

2/ slow bandwidth speed --> bad for anything require quick response: gaming, streaming, cloud security.

combine those 2, you have a garbage device called extender.

Just installed this, does exactly what I need, extends signal to a back bedroom.

Easy set up, works as described.
