I do recommend running firmware updates when you get it.

I don't have experience with that particular model, but this one is just a few dollars more with better range and more throughput, and I've seen a couple of different reviews where it is considered the top value for your money. I use this one myself and have had very good experience with it:
Limited-time deal: TP-Link AC1200 WiFi Extender, 2023 Engadget Best Budget pick, 1.2Gbps signal booster for home, Dual Band 5GHz/2.4GHz, Covers Up to 1500 Sq.ft and 30 Devices ,support Onemesh, One Ethernet Port (RE315) [amazon]
I seem to be struggling to create a link. it's 26.99 right now

I have this, bought it a week or so ago. I have a tplink router, it works well with it.
The thing I don't like, is I can't setup whitelists/blacklists to keep other devices from connecting to it.

I dont have exp with this one. but in general, if such unit is used as an extender, then filtering should be handled by the router. such unit is not designed to run as an AP though many claim so.

Yup, still can't isolate the device and run blacklist/whitelists through it which is annoying. I'm spoiled with the equipment I've used at work

I like this one because you can completely turn off wireless and only use as a WiFi Ethernet extender to bring networking to wired only devices.

I own one of these and they aren't miracle workers, but they're really handy and give off better signal than I thought they could. I was still connected to mine when I was upstairs at the dining room table working and the extender was in the basement on the opposite side of the house. Not a huge house. Video calls still worked very well.
